DM63A1 is just old DM53 round that have been converted with the new propellent. AFAIK the incendiary tracer change didnt actually get a new designation.
DM73 is the same penetrator at a higher MV as the new propellent left much overhead on the pressure. I suspect the CR3 will use this in some capacity
DM83 (EKE) is in final development trials, the UK is co-funding it now. New penetrator design. Depending on the timing i suspect this will be the main round of the CR3.
Not being sold to any country yet due to it still being under contract
With a joint programme between the UK and rheinmetall we would potentially get gap filler access to other rounds until the eKe comes out.
check when it comes out, it probably will take a lot
Yes, CR3 won’t be in service for a few more years and DM73 was supposed to be in service already, so by the time CR3 is in service it seems a fair bet that it will use the newest round.
As i said before DM73 is límited by contract do it can’t be sold to other countries yet, by the time it enters full service it Will probably use EKE
You can change a contract, quite easily if both sides agree.
as of rn that aint happening, probably gonna be 1 or 2 years before they finish producing the first batch of new shells for germany DM83(KE2020NEO)
what you are describing is DM53A1
EKE and KE 2020 neo are 2 diffrent projects. Germany is not planning on adopting EKE

I never said they were the same? UK and Germany are continuing the joint development of EKE:
I’m assuming it will be “DM83” but that’s not any official name.
thats the thing thats literaly the name of the KE2020 NEO already, and its in development since way longer then EKE, its planned to be finished this year, we might even see it in 2 weeks

I’m under the impression that KE2020 Neo was just rebranded into EKE, as it’s already well into development.
maybe, so as i always said, you guys just joined the KE2020 NEO
EKE is a different project, KE2020NEO is exclusively german and EKE is probably gonna be exclusively Uk’s
Where is this information from?
Sounds like the shell has already been developed and is now just being approved and qualified on the Challenger 3. This lines up with the timeline of KE2020 Neo.

well numerous stuff EDR magazine during the interview never stated KE2020NEO to be a joint project unlike EKE so i have my doubts on it
oh well then time to wait for first prototype leopard next year
I’m wondering if theres a possiblity the Challenger 3 has improved turret rotation / gun elevation speed over the Challenger 2.
I suspect it will and at top tier reaction times are of course extremely important.
I’m gonna take a look for any indication that it might, if anyone has any existing info they know pls send it :)
