Challenger 3 MBT - Technical Data and Discussion

Sadly the Technical Demonstrator we have in game didn’t had blowouts, just like other features such as APS, Spall Liners on turret and other features.

I feel sad that I wasted time and money on this garbage tank, can Gaijin remove it from the game and return the time and money I lost?:(
And this junk tank itself is not real, the power pack should not be 1500 HP
You guys should make this piece of crap more realistic Xd

Love makes me hate:

On the future Challenger 3 tank, the new engine model is CV12 TCA Mk9A, and the CV12-9A engine and CV12-8A engine are actually exactly the same. Compared with CV12-6A, CV12-9A changes to larger turbochargers, electric heaters to replace the old intake manifold heaters (IMH), higher fuel injection pressure, etc. The new electric air intake heater will improve the cold start performance of the engine.

CV12-8A was originally used for the engine of the “Titan” AVLB armoured bridge car and the “Troy” AVRE armoured engineering vehicle, with a power output of 1200 horsepower, but the torque curve is different from the CV12-6A engine. This is to adapt to the TN54ETS transmission system of different hydraulic torque converters. , used in the “Titan” armoured bridge car weighing 73 tons. Challenger 3 uses the TN54E transmission system, so the torque curve needs to be adjusted, and the engine model is modified to CV12-9A.

They are not. At first the engine as supposed to be 8a, but later they did some things and a new engien development with a new name 9a became a star of HAAIP. 8a gets changed cooling system, 9a is in the works for increasing its power output without having to rework cooling system

Yea, they already tested that on Megatron some time ago (only transmission upgrade), engien stayed the same.

8A and 9A are not the same, they have very different cooling setups and the engines differ.

Mmm, depends if it’s just a CR2 hull, in which case yes, it’s its using the 9A for trials then it could be at 1200, 1350 or 1500hp.

It is for sure one of the Cr2 given to RBSL to work on. If it got the engine, dunno. In 2019 they said they are working with the MoD around the mobility.

The current sample car has not modified the cooling exhaust grille, exhausting from the top deck grille like the old CV12-6A power package, but it is understood that the final “Challenger 3” tank will have the same rear cooling exhaust grille as the Omanic Challenger 2.

No, Oman has 8a cooling. 9a will either have the same cooling as 6a or completly new one.
As of now any 9a in existence will have 6a one(unless RBSL did things they do not share).

First of all, the main purpose of the HAAIP project is the “general” power system. Secondly, 9A has a larger turbocharger, higher compression ratio and fuel injection pressure, so the inevitable cooling and heat dissipation system has also been modified. It is reasonable to use a larger hydraulic drive cooling fan device and heat dissipation grille.

Yes, but Mod did not wanted ANY modifications to the back of the Cr3 hull, that is why 9a got stuck.

It can be understood as: Because the 9A does not modify the heat dissipation cooling system, the power will be maintained at 1200 horsepower to maintain stable operation, or will there be a new cooling system that does not need to modify the back of the hull in the future mass production model?

Some time ago there were 3 options. 1 leave it at 1200, 2 keep te current cooling and with other upgrades and reach 1350, 3 make a new cooling and get 1500. As of currently we have no idea what was chosen.

Well, then wait and see if the new pre-production model will reveal more information (I personally really hope it can have a real 1500 horsepower engine)

Drummond is wrong here

Source?

From the CV12 TCA MK8A upgrade, it can be seen that compared with the CV12 TCA Mk6A, the Mk8A has a slightly larger turbocharger, a higher compression ratio and fuel injection pressure, and an increased hydraulic drive cooling fan device. Then if 9A wants higher power, the conditions mentioned in the appeal are always indispensable. Moreover, Caterpillar previously said at the IAV2019 conference that it has developed a new Perkins CV12 CR (Common Rail) engine for Challenger 2, which adopts a high-pressure common rail fuel injection system, which improves the output power and reaches 1500 horsepower, so the previous conclusion can be drawn.

It looks like the first pre-production CR3 hasn’t had any changes to the cooling vents/hull rear: x.com

Yes, as i said

After all it is only the 1st proto, out of 6? 7? I forgot how much of they they are planning to make.
