Challenger 3 MBT - Technical Data and Discussion

I know, I mentioned it earlier but it’s not modelled in game. I wonder if they can tie it to something like cold and hot maps? it would be a labour of love kind of addition. If not cold and hot then engine off timer?

Makes me think about the K2 and if Poland makes their own native tanks using the best ideas from every tank they’ve purchased one day.

It would also be nice to see more mine plow’s and blade options in general as an upgrade option like armour modules.

It depends how you interpret it I guess, the statement he replied to was talking about the actual engine power, but he may have got confused who knows

I’m hoping that we see a CR3 at tankfest this summer, even if it’s just on display parked up. They had a real CV12-9A engine there last year, with the horsepower listed at 1500, but the source for that information was “google” despite the sheet being made by Babcock themselves.

you know if they do add the prototype for the ch3 with all the era n stuff its gonna genuinelly be painful to A. get the armour/composite on the level above the ch2 B. get the ERA to not be dogwater C. get the LFP addon to not be dogwater and D. get the breach to not be ass

The hull armour may be a bit easier to convince them about because its physically thicker on the UFP compared to the CR2.

I have very low expectations for everything else, we don’t even have proper confirmation on if the modular armour is ERA or composite

I have question have any type of challengers use or tested turbine engines?

only thing british that tested a turbine was a Conqueror that I can think of tbh

I’m in the very early stages of making a suggestion for better/enhanced individual tank customization that would allow us to stop having so much C&P for something that can just be a modification

Did we watch the same video about the AS90? We’ve always made great artillery cannons and shells. M777 howitzer, AS90, L15A2😮‍💨

South Africa as well

did the TD have Farnham?

No suggestion it did, it was demonstrating what could be done to the CR2 platform by installing L/55 and new electronic sub systems etc…

Nope, as Fireball said the the 3TD is essentially just a Challenger 2 with a new gun and some upgraded tech

The Challenger 3 itself is a much more significant upgrade which actually does feature entirely new internal and external armour

We just have to hope Gaijin will be bothered to model any of said upgrades

It will be entirely up to them as theres basically no info out there on the actual details of the upgrades

“Improved armour” is really not very helpful when modelling a DM for the tank

Yeah… unfortunately that will be the case

I was just reading the European Security and Defence article from back in 2020, and they state that ERA was proposed by Rheinmetall to increase the protection of the Challenger 2 LEP’s new turret.

That points towards the modular armour on CR3 (the evolution of the LEP) being ERA, it’s not a direct source from the MOD/RBSL, but it’s a pretty good source otherwise.

The one about it’s use in Ukraine, it’s doing well considering it’s older kit. Yeah it was something in the ball park of 11.? something kg’s explosive mass for the British shells compared to the German and American ones which were something like 8 and 7kg ish IIRC.

Look at EOS and different weapon options too, grenade launchers, 30mm, Javelin, maybe even laser options.

For the ready rack yes for the hull probably not. I’d like to know if the hull space of the lower glacis is improved spall liner at least, or if the whole CR3 build work will fix the incorrect models of the CR2 hulls in game. They have a chance to redeem themselves I hope they take it.

I might actually ask some of the suggestion giants like @Akizyr0 (formally known as Surbaissemaxxing) and maybe @CHARM_3 and @Ogaly_Bogaly

I think I will also make my primary example vehicle the Challenger 2
