I would play the game more if it’s actually realistic and had realistic crew voices.
Things as simple as seeing cold war vehicles in ww2 really take me out of it now. Challenger 2 specifically having rounds fly though the mantlet is just cringe with T80s being only penable through drivers port and a sliver of an lfp. It’s too obviously BS. At the end of the day it’s immersion breaking.
Besides what I’m really looking for in a tank game is an actual tank simulator where you can be inside the vehicle seeing them all animated. I really want to stick my head out of a commanders cupola and have to open hatches and stuff to see anything.
I’ve realised that the armor meta in war thunder is actually really hampered by how accurate the sighting systems are. The game needs a lot more realistic modelling imo, breaking gun barrels on world objects should be a thing to punish hiding in confined areas and stop the knife fight in a phone booth this game has become reliant on.
I watched CodMineMans video about the state of War thunder and it was so true, it’s just one bad stale game mode, and infantry is a sticking plaster for them to try and draw out their business model. I reckon infantry will totally fail just like naval as so many other games do it better.
War thunder with 100% realism and bigger maps. Like 3 mile wide maps.
GHPX but more nations and multiplayer and 100% realism.
Well damn, didn’t know this was a thing. Gonna jump ship lmfao.
Gonna be another GHPX with only America and Russia. That’s why I like war thunder, has lots of nations.
As long as it’s realistic I’d play an Abrams, real shame no Challenger though, us brits are a bit niche. You never know though Operation Granby or Op Telic DLC would be cool. I don’t know why but saying those operations names with DLC after made me laugh. Imagine serving in a war and you have some gamer say it would be cool to get DLC of that lmfao.
I think we have the best names for everything we give a name to.
I want our next tank to be called Champion, the thought process being the Challenger finally won. Challenger 4 would be too many Challengers.
I love how our next jet fighter will be called Tempest, WW2 throwback. Imagine we named a new jet Spitfire.
They should call it the Chud
I do hope the MOD starts looking into a proper new tank once Challenger 3 fully enters service.
Perhaps using a modified Challenger 3 turret on a newly built hull would be a good start.
I’m wheezing
or if our next tank after chally 3 goes to a old WW2 name
Like Comet, or Cromwell
Hell maybe even cavalier, Crusader or centaur
absolutely
The challenger hull is… antiquated these days, dare i say obselete
Our country can’t keep living in the past, I feel we as a nation are doomed to nostalgia (not making any political point really more just culturally). We need a new tank named for a new era, I say Champion because it hasn’t been done before and it sounds supreme while still starting with a C.
One-Shot Basher
I can’t see them calling the new tank the Crusader purely for political reasons, imagine trying to export that to anywhere in the middle east just to start
I agree it should get a new name entirely, Champion isnt too bad. It does set up some pretty harsh jokes if it loses competitions though
You say this like challenger exports have been particularly successful in the first place.
As long as there’s a leopard in existence I suspect the export of any other tank will be… limited.
Well the only place the Challenger 2 was exported to was Oman and the Challenger 1 was intended for Iran, later going to Kuwait
All middle eastern countries
The MOD do claim there is some export interest, with Oman being the most likely candidate as they already use Challenger 2s
Not really, we’ve seen pretty good export interest in the K2 and Abrams in recent years
if they can make the Challenger 3 based vehicle cheaper than the Leopard 2 based competitors, which are ridiculously expensive, they have a decent chance
A single Leopard 2A8 can cost 20-34 million Euros, which is just obscene. The Czech Leopard 2A8s were 34 million for EACH vehicle.
For context, the cost per Challenger 3 is around 12.5 million, that includes the entire cost of developing and testing the vehicle as well. Obviously the cost is lower as the hulls are reused, but the entire turret is new and most hull components are new or upgraded. In terms of bang for your buck, it’s a lot more cost effective, even if the programme was to double in cost somehow.
That to me is part of the appeal, I always laugh when people call Challenger challenged just for the obviousness of the insult.
