My little write up on the War Thunder Survey: What do People Enjoy About the Game, And What Don't They? - #141 by Das_Jukes thread goes over what I think needs to happen

“Going forward, Gaijin should (even though the effort needed to do so would be huge) create an archive/database/library to show and back up their own claims for higher end vehicle performance/characteristics. Right now, we have the situation of developers demanding very specific information to justify changes from its player base, bordering on commiting accidental espionage… all while they make changes to vehicles without ANY justification to its players other than “we made it up/we believe/sekrit document” etc etc”

The current situation is just daft to say the least, this and the Abrams hull armour are two perfect examples

Its a great idea, but you forget what Gaijin is. War thunder is the flagship product and War thunder operates on being cheap while having massive profit margins.

We don’t have new maps or game modes because these take time and have a cost that will not entice new players. Simply put making the game better does not make the game more profitable, So why do it?
The sad truth is War thunder is not for the older players who remember tank “beta” it is for the new players who will play an hour a day spend 90 bucks on the next premium or a weeb tank. Who will learn how the game is played from the most toxic of content creators who will rush the spawn and leave the game after one death.

That is War thunder and as long as Gaijin can keep those kind of players invested or coming back for the fomo train it will never change.

I think it’s also a flagship of Russian military patriotism that they have to be better or 1 step ahead than America/UK. Looks quite political when you look at it all.

It’s being used as a vehicle for soft power projection, and these new players will believe what Gaijin say with many of them opting for a T-90M over an M1 or a CR2.

Soooooo what we gonna do about it?

As true as I believe that is - nobody is immune.

Look at most Hollywood movies where the US are involved… you’d be forgiven for thinking that the US of A has won everything, up to and including wars fought before it even existed.

We famously (or infamously) have some very special 'Muricans on this forum who will argue until they are blue in the face that the Typhoon cannot possibly supercruise - mainly by virtue of the fact that it isn’t American - or wasn’t made in America - so it cannot possibly be better in any way.

Then there’s the French / Rafale crowd who are…erm… dedicated

A British War Thunder would probably display similar levels of favouritism if it was made by us lot, let’s be honest. Up to and including having the Hawker Hurricane being faster than the Bf 109 - just to annoy people. Or making Russian tanks launch their turrets into the air if they so much as brush a moderately large tree.

Yh there’s a bit of a difference between a movie you watch and a game you play and help develop by providing official factual evidence (that gets denied unless your Russian)

Both are ultimately forms of entertainment rather than a genuine educational tool.

This is accurate and factual so there’s nothing wrong with it.

I really dont think there is much that can be done

Whenever anything like this is brought up, there is a group of forum users that come out of the woodwork to defend Gaijin (I’m sure we all know who I’m talking about) and are in complete denial of the favouritism and outright lies

And all you have to do is look at the KH-38MT thread, I read the vast majority of the thread and it was like the immovable object vs unstoppable force, the ‘Russian Bias in 2026’ thread is another example, or the BMPT thread…

Stop playing is the only power we have 😅

Alas this is true. As entertaining as it is to poke holes in the RASHA STRONK logik - no amount of logic will get through to those, or indeed the devs who have very much got their minds made up.

Doesn’t stop us pointing and laughing at them though…

Already have. Haven’t played properly for months, haven’t played non-stop for like a year. I hop on and play 5 quick air games (cause I die in like 2mins) just so I can type here Everytime there’s an interesting convo

I don’t spend money anymore, I haven’t had premium in like a year.

Who cares anyway tbh, the game has like 1 mode and now they are just generating skins with gemini. Where is the value at?

The Challenger 2 will live on in our hearts.

I would play the game more if it’s actually realistic and had realistic crew voices.

Things as simple as seeing cold war vehicles in ww2 really take me out of it now. Challenger 2 specifically having rounds fly though the mantlet is just cringe with T80s being only penable through drivers port and a sliver of an lfp. It’s too obviously BS. At the end of the day it’s immersion breaking.

Besides what I’m really looking for in a tank game is an actual tank simulator where you can be inside the vehicle seeing them all animated. I really want to stick my head out of a commanders cupola and have to open hatches and stuff to see anything.

I’ve realised that the armor meta in war thunder is actually really hampered by how accurate the sighting systems are. The game needs a lot more realistic modelling imo, breaking gun barrels on world objects should be a thing to punish hiding in confined areas and stop the knife fight in a phone booth this game has become reliant on.

I watched CodMineMans video about the state of War thunder and it was so true, it’s just one bad stale game mode, and infantry is a sticking plaster for them to try and draw out their business model. I reckon infantry will totally fail just like naval as so many other games do it better.

War thunder with 100% realism and bigger maps. Like 3 mile wide maps.

GHPX but more nations and multiplayer and 100% realism.
