After the CR2 overhaul, on the first dev server, the tank had almost perfect mantlet armour.
Around 500-600mm, then randomly it got reverted before it went live.
The hull armour was also a bit better, but don’t expect that to return as it was overperforming (for without addons)
It also had a dozer blade.

Look how many T80UE1 weeb tanks compared to the regular one
I’ve dropped back to the chieftains at 8.7 again anyways though wanna get thrm aced
In the upcoming ground event for Britian, im probably going to be most playing the Chieftain 10/900 I think. Might play 10.3 as well now the BMPToxic is higher, but I wont be touching the CR2s I think
I remember this; and I remember just how much positive feedback it got. This is what I was referring to when I said about Gaijin saw us finally happy with the CR2 and decided “nope, they smiled. go back.”
There have been a few dev server improvements of CR2 that made it genuinely competitive and fun to play, but every single time they get it into a comfortable spot in the dev server; they decide “nope, too good.” and nerf it into the ground again.

but if the add on was applied is that a different story?

I believe this screenshot that SpanishAvenger took after the CR2 mantlet buff (temporarly) hit the dev server is how it was.
That same spot now is around 370mm.

Theres the UFP and dozer.

Spoiler
i think i climaxed
i pray this comes back someday because making the CR2 breech as annoying to pen as a t80 breech would be the most satisfying depression curing thing ever to happen and the ufp dozer combo

It wouldn’t have even been OP, considering you could still pen the roof ((where the turret cheeks meet the roof)) giving it about the same weak spot space as the T80’s, Leopards and Abrams on the turret. Currently, shooting those vehicles is difficult because of how precise you have to aim on their weak spots, and CR2 has this gaping hole in the centre that if you shoot anywhere near it; you’ll at minimum disable it, at worst KO the crew. They don’t have this issue, meaning you cant exactly snap shot them.

except your 90% of the time gonna richochet or get just the commander
Well with CR2, that breach weak spot is so large, if you hit anywhere near it (which is easy to do on a snap shot) you will usually at minimum disable the breach. If you try and snap shot a leo or t80, it’ll just ricochet or do nothing is what im trying to say.
i mean personally the chally 2 turret face is so large it can overwhelm players into shooting the cheeks but yeah i guess
closing that weak spot on the breach doesnt make it invulnerable. It would still be fair and balanced, and players would have to learn to shoot the roof, or the hull to knock it out, which when only the turret is exposed, the roof is a harder shot to hit; much like the trap shot on leopards is hard to hit when they are hulled down, or breach shots on T80’s. If anything, its more balanced than what we have currently
Especially given its one of the slowest (if not the slowest) and has one of the weaker shells at higher BR and weakest at top tier.
So having decent survivability is off-set by the other 2 points.

This comes back to the whole “where does all the weight go?” argument. Because in Gaijin’s eyes, none of that weight seems to calculate into armour like it does for every other vehicle. Standard CR2 is 67.4t, while the Leopard 2a7 is 66.5t, but the 2a7 has much better frontal armour somehow and many more gubbins on it, being a newer vehicle. I understand this is a bit of a vast statement, but its a conversation that comes up every now and then; and does raise some concerns.
Yeah. Clearly its the 1t of tea-bags in the stores
