How much better are they though
I’m not sure I’m not really informed other than surface stuff but given France uses autoloaders and 1 piece ammunition and L27A1 should have more than 700mm of pen I’d say they should be pretty damn good particularly as South Korea holds a metal working patent with the UK and France for APFSDS rounds.
Currently France could get
- OFL 120 F1B | Same as OFL 120 F1
- OFL 120 F2 | Not an upgrade, on some cases its even a downgrade
- SHARD | (the upgrade, but its too early for this type of rounds)
Or if Gaijin decide to go the ahistorical way just like they did with Italy, they could give it DM53, or whatever NATO round they’d like, Leclerc is able to fire them.
Just took a look at the Chally 3TD and noticed the gaps between the mantlet armour and the cheeks are not equal XD
Today I was killed by a ZiS-12 while playing with the Challenger 2 (2F). It killed my gunner, and I was already without a commander. I found it funny, albeit tragic. By the way, why does the protection analysis say “penetration not possible”, even though it is?

It’s sad seeing 150mm of probably chobum or some other kind of composite provide 30mm of ke protection…. I don’t think gaijin realises that we wouldn’t bother using something this shit if all we had to do was use era as well. Sure different doctrines and all that, but are you really saying we would rather have this than simply use era and just tell troops to suck away from the sides. It would have been far cheaper as well using era and we all know our government loves to cut corners. Tell them this magical brick can make your tank immune to most threats on the battlefield and it’s cheap as shit and they would be already signing the piles of documents needed to procure them.
It’s not 30mm. It just says 30mm in the X-Ray. The actual KE protection of the 2F’s 150mm side composite add-on armor is 15mm. That’s why the screenshot says 55mm equivalent protection. (Base armor is a slightly angled 38mm.)
Although apparently it’s not even 15mm since that ZIS went through with only 44mm of pen. Might not even be modeled at all.

We still missing the last extra side armour on the side of the challenger that someone pointed out? Should buff it to the 50 stated without contradicting the pixel measuring down on the hull.
Well, first of all the VARMA block should be 200, not 150. Second of all they are chobham and they should provide at least 82mm of KE and 500 CE.
There are also different VARMA versions. These values are for the one on Cr1 Mk3 and Cr2 DL2E. Blocks on 2F(both hull and turret ones) 2G/2H(turret ones) and 2I(turret ones) (each version better than previous) have been upgraded, sadly we have no idea how much.

They just don’t care. The chally is designed to be a target for Russian mbts at top tier, and that’s about it.
A lot of people here feel dispirited, and for a good reason. There are still ways to get Gaijin to bring the Challenger 2 from a challenged state to a dev server state, and one of those ways is to raise hell. It worked before and it could work now.

Dispirited is extremely polite in comparison to how i feel about the whole situation and gaijins actions when it comes to minor nations, especially when it comes to vehicle protection.

Gaijin might force war thunder to decrease in popularity because of such handling of player base requests. Every online game messes up at some point which results in the deterioration of online numbers, this and other issues might become the ignition point for war thunder.
Well some people learn by their mistakes, smarter people learn by mistakes committed by others. I guess gaijin devs fall more into the first category and they gonna start scratching their heads when it’s gonna be too late

Steam charts have dipped this month, I’m certainly not going to be putting any effort into trying to play the challenger 2 in its current state, why should we settle for such a sub standard effort after all the work that was put into compiling the information for them to adjust the model in the first place. The community has done a chunk of the research for them and our payment for it is dismissal.
