Pretty happy with the blog post honestly but the part detailing my post about explosive reactive armor didn’t even get the name of the ERA right. Armor Shield R is not found anywhere on TES or OES. It is ASPRO-HMT.
My post details and provides evidence that the values are too low to stop even PG-7VL which is incorrect. mimimum values for it to be accurate (according to manufacturer spec sheets) at 500mm (value provided by Russian Bureau of arms export) of CE but even then, this is a Active/Passive mixture designed to defeat modern RPG threats. The most modern RPG-7 round it would be fightinf is PG-7VR. A tandem anti tank round. The current 30mm KE and 400mm CE does not meet ASPRO-HMTs specs.
@magazine2 @Stona_WT @Smin1080p May want to pass on that this segment of about the ERA is incorrect. The post shows that it is not Armor Shield R. It is ASPRO-HMT, a completely different product. This is information that can make or break the point about the ERA. It ISNT just ERA. Its Active and Passive armor in one brick. Composite style materials, mixed in with explosive reactive material, as explained in my posts, whereas Armor Shield R is just ERA and not used by the MOD.

They’re still probably not going to listen I’m afraid. They’re just giving more and more people reasons for another review bombing. How hard is it to fix a whole bunch of problems? It’s really the lack of direct communication with the Devs and their supervisors which is disrupting the development of the game.

tbh I was expecting something along the lines of the M1A2s dev blog of, sure we will get some buffs and some of the issues will just be ignored, but no we got hit with the "actually were going to nerf you with no improvements at all out side of some very vague “damage model refinements”
Rafael outlines that ASPRO-HMT:
Is a passive / active armor package. It has explosive elements and passive “composite style” elements to withstand greater threats. Fireball has shown how the ASPRO-HMT bricks are layed out. They’re explosive at the front, passive at the back. This makes sense to defeat tandem rounds as the initial explosive layer would destroy the breaching charge, and the passive mixture would prevent penetration by the warhead. (Note this is just the ERA, theres STILL the airgaps and composite screen behind it)
It can defeat RPG threats. The two most well known are PG-7VL which is a single stage Anti Tank round. According to the Russian Burea of arms exports, this round pens 500mm RHA, so we already lack 100mm of CE.
Given VLs are old rounds and ASPRO-HMT is a 2008 era armor package, the most likely round it should defeat is PG-7VR. A tandem warhead RPG-7 round.
Meets Stanag 5 level requirements, which are 25MM APFSDS at 500m and 30⁰±
I’m taking this 30 degree angle metric to be a cone, ranging from -30⁰ to 0⁰ to +30⁰
The KE resistance therefore should be 84mm of KE.

All in all, The ERA on TES and OES is ASPRO-HMT as outlined by multiple sources.
TES and OES should effectively be impenetrable on the first shot by any chemical munition owing to its addon armors qualities.
It is NOT Armor Shield R and they would have known this if they read my post properly.

oooh i know why people were showing Armour Shield R which is stanag level 6 (which means they got the name wrong and then put in the wrong armour values for both lol)

At least they said CR2 is getting reworked. Besides the ERA fuckup, I see this as good news. I just wish they didn’t misquote my work.
It was better, but still it was their own bubble. They ignored most things provided, said they will do it their way.

Theres been a long running myth its Armor Shield R. Its been proven wrong over and over and Gaijin made a mistake and spoke about an ERA package never used on TES or OES. Never even owned by the UK for that matter.
It’s also completely irrelevant as Armor Shield R is ERA and ASPRO-HMT is a Passive/Active mix. WILDLY different protection and capabilities.
Provided by whom? Pure aluminium?
