Challenger 2 MBT - Technical data and Discussion (Part 1)

I mean the wakspot is also there, but its much smaller and nearly double in protection

the backing plate is the issue people have with that idea

True. I dont think that every IFV APC or any other thing that mounts ASPRO will get a 40mm RHa plate behind it. And if stanag protection was made with that plate in mind it would be a false advertisement

The backing mount is different across different vehicles. Different thicknesses, dimensions, etc. I doubt the spec sheet is including the backing plate.

I really do wonder if they’ll actually put this in eventually. This would make CR2 actually not bad at hull down engagements, especially if they add the mantlet protection too

~Doubling the rotor, adding that plate in front of it and tweaking the wedges? Maybe with this giant Cr2 Post they will

Fingers crossed…
I’m not super hopeful, and i’m 100% expecting the CR2 post to be extremely dismissive of evidence, unwillingness to make educated guesses rather than be purposefully wrong, and exclaim their CR2 is the most realistic.

…part or me wishes they’d listen to their own employees and rework it entirely though. You know it’s fubar when Gunjob is raising concerns internally…

I mean they need some sort of back plate, I doubt Rafael went to the Russian school of turning your car into a bomb via ERA

True, but I HEAVILY doubt the mounting bracket provides any kind of defence beyond directing the ERA blast and providing a mount. I don’t think it would contribute at all to the STANAG rating

That reminds me: the ASPRO HMT is described as a “slow burning” era, anyone know what that stands for?

Pretty sure this is in reference to ERA that doesn’t cook off explosively or detonate when on fire.
Could be wrong though

Edit- May also reference Low Explosives vs High Explosives

@Smin1080p Sorry if this was asked already, but do we have a general timeframe for the CR2 post?

Nope we do not

Oh no

It was just a joke video, but I was wondering what would come of it, and I clicked send

I predict next Tuesday.
Reasoning being, the datamines show they are preparing to make changes and the next battlepass season is almost out, so they will hope people pay the minimal changes they make no mind. Squished between the vehicle devblogs and the season start.
