Challenger 2 MBT - Technical data and Discussion (Part 1)

Tough choices ahead for you then. And Italy best Typhoon? Traitor 😜

If ASRAAM is modelled accurately then i’d choose Britain, but I have no trust for that haha.

HOW DOES THAT WORK

you better not be serious…

Was thinking IRST too. Think that is RAF only

I expect absolutely nothing. They had a laundry list of sources and still denied the changes, the challenger 2s mantlet will probably get nerf’d to 100mm

don’t worry russians have IRST so they won’t model it too bad

Idek lad, but im not joking

Yeah, that post destroyed what little faith I had in that they’re at least trying.

I mean, what is the point of trying to get sources for armour etc, when they just deny reality and say no.

somehow they accidently modelled it as 40 + 60 instead of 40 + 40, this stopped APFSDS which isnt allowed it seems and instead of setting it to 40 + 40 they now need proof its RHa(they made that decision on their own before, why now)?

Can’t have good things happen comrade

Wouldnt it be a fillet weld(or its version with deeper cut into the metal) ?

If it is a fillet weld, it would mean that 38 is true. The thing is, does the slope that goes on the gear keep on further, bumping up the width, or it does not and it goes back down?

How gaijin thinks welds work

Maybe

Exactly

Well, do we have a chance to bump it up to said 50 or nah?

This picture makes no sense, no wonder its what gaijin thinks welding is like

It’s more likely to be 45mm not 50mm including the weld, there’s likely to be a 8mm chamfer on both sides allowing the weld to be built up giving the joint more strength. It’s an external weld from what i can tell so a fillet weld wouldn’t work.

I will do a funny little schemat i on my phone in a while, so say what my point is

Yeah, true. Thankfully. They I’m guessing they won’t be model the ability to slave missiles to it for us

This is how I’d expect the weld to be done in internally overall. I’m not sure of the thickness of the plate to the right of it in the photo, but if you can imagine the chamfer being smaller this is how it would essentially be welded together.
