Challenger 2 MBT - Technical data and Discussion (Part 1)

I’m hoping and praying this made sense @Gunjob hahaha
Toss a dog a bone :P

The line of thinking is:

We can see the middle bit is thicker in every photo.
We know ASPRO-HMT has to be mounted on a solid plate, flush, so the outside of the panels are where the metal is on TES.
We can see the shroud doesn’t extend down the side of the middle plates, and the plates are solid.
The front has a 40mm air gap and then a 40mm plate, total space occupied is 80mm.
The middle therefore, is 80mm since the solid metal is facing outwards, and we can see there’s no airgap, occupying the full 80mm space.

So…middle 2 plates = 80mm thick
front plate = 40mm airgap and 40mm plate

Me coming into this thread and seeing different interations of paint spaghetti

I hope they resolve the whole block being destroyed in one hit

Now @DevilO6 my question is what are these boxes on the turret cheeks?
Also, what is the vehicle behind the challenger, at first glance I thought it was a warrior but I’m unsure.

It’s called Kadag(Kanonen-Abschuss-Darstellungs-Gerät for the German Bundeswehr

Changed the photo

very interesting, thanks for the info

@l2ulan will probably be able to tell you more about it, think tankograd also has some on it but I’m currently at Uni so not at home XD

But now one of 2 things are out of my head. The other one is ROMOR-A report, will do it in an hour probably

No on the thin section not the side the ASPRO mounts to.

Sorry which section do you mean?

Just behind ECM boxes

Have fun arguing

Now do a camouflage deep dive

I’m sorry I don’t follow. Those are ASPRO-HMT blocks next to the ECM?

Always have been, just smaller (not only game vise)

Right of the vertical red line. Whats the point those four bolts if they are not fixing the shroud to the outside of the plate.
