Challenger 2 MBT - Technical data and Discussion (Part 1)

It was tried, we still didn’t get the traverse upgrade. Waste of time.

Good luck, my friends.

Since I started playing with the Merkava 4, I can’t play with the Challenger 2/3 anymore because it’s still a slow tank to turn, a total piece of junk. It doesn’t even have armor and seems like a heavy tank.

I don’t see anyone complaining about this, so Gaijin will leave it as it is. The Challenger 2 is a disaster with a plastic mantlet and much worse than the Merkava 4. The Merkava 4 performs much better when hull down.

Leopards do too. It’s just that in Challenger 2’s case the nerf is even worse because the mantlet is bigger.

In regards to the Leopards, their mantlet ingame can’t even protect against M26 Pershing’s gun.

It should provide at least 450mm KE; according to Gaijin’s charts, it provides 380-545 (somehow the German Leopards have worse mantlets than the Swedish ones, which, theorically, have more realistic values), and yet, they can’t actually protect against some miserable 90mm APCR ingame because the ingame values don’t even match the chart’s.

Gaijin just can’t seem to accept that NATO engineers can, in fact, design minimally functional mantlets. In short; both Challenger 2-3s and Leopard 2s are missing at least 200mm KE on their mantlets.

I think the whole weak mantlets is so you can always shoot out the breech but with tanks with massive but well protected mantlets doesn’t work as it creates a massive weak were you can one shot whereas on other tanks with smaller mantlets thisbis less likely to happen and it annoys me

So they fixed the depression angles and changed the engine sounds, these are going to be the only fixes aren’t they…

And gave the enforcer 100 more rounds per mag but removed 100 in total. The depression angles at the rear helps. I hope they fix the MTTD while they’re at it.

Don’t forget, you can shoot slightly better over the back decks! (if you are shooting over the back decks you are already in a very bad place and using the tank in a way it was not intended to be used)

2 of my bugs fixed in one go, im so touched im about to cry

All tanks with the rheinmetal guns are like this, it wouldnt suprise me if it was an artificial nerf

You think it’s properly depressed now?

Yea, it sure is.

that better not be “all” we’re getting

and no i mean, get some actual f**king armour fixes, so the whole strongpoint of the Challenger tanks isn’t also a massive weakspot…
