Description: The Chaimite V-200 “Armada 90” represents an upgraded variant of the standard V-200 armored vehicle, specifically developed for the Portuguese Marine Corps. This version is equipped with the domestically engineered “Armada 90” weapon system, integrated into its turret to enhance operational capability against armored vehicles and fortified positions. The system is compatible with Super Bazooka and INSTALAZA M65 munitions, offering increased firepower and tactical versatility.
History: The Chaimite series of armored vehicles was developed in Portugal during the 1960s to address the operational requirements of the Portuguese Armed Forces, particularly in the context of overseas military engagements. Drawing design inspiration from the American Cadillac Gage Commando, the Chaimite was conceived to deliver a balance of protection, mobility, and modular adaptability, thereby serving a wide array of combat roles. Among the specialized configurations of this platform was the Chaimite V-200 “Armada 90,” a fire support vehicle tailored for deployment by the Portuguese Marine Corps. This variant was outfitted with the “Armada 90” weapon system to improve its effectiveness in confronting armored threats and fortified targets. However, despite its advanced capabilities, production of this model was limited to only four units, thereby restricting its broader operational impact within the Marine Corps.
