I’m absolutel stunned WT community doesn’t give a flying plane about absolutely broken and inconsistent behaviour of one of the most popular weapons vs Soviet aircraft.
Are people even interested in WW2 stuff at this point?
Or are they only concerned about getting their new jet and spam missiles?
To be honest you’re the only one here having issues killing Soviet planes. Furthermore it’s well known modern vehicles are much more popular than WWII ones. Its what has lead to war thunder’s surge in popularity.
I’m literally top 30 best kills per battle Air RB player right now. When I’m saying something refuses to die, when it should, I probably am not making stuff up, especially since protection analysis 100% confirms my words and there’s even a video of ridiculously low damage from tanking a long burst.
Here.
Soviet plywood-covered aircraft lose wings the least often out of all.planes in game because majority of my shells fail to do damage when hitting these parts and for some magical reason I am landing mostly AP vs Yaks and Lavochkins while I land mostly M-geschoss vs everything else.
WW2 stuff was what made WT a fun game. Modern stuff is what made WT a pathetic powercreeping grindfest.
Personally I believe that it’s more reliable, Yaks aren’t sponging rounds without losing a wingtip or receiving a rather significant damage now

GUYS, Soviet engineering is SOOO BACK.
Recently I’ve had some ridiculous trouble with shooting down Mosquitos and Yaks, they took a lot of hits with barely any damage.
So I jump into protection analysis, and lo and behold, Gaijin fixed German fuses, then they…
…adjusted Yak/Lavochkin skin so it ONCE AGAIN does not trigger the fuse. ROTFL.
The right way to fix it is to adjust the thickness of aircraft skin,as even the wooden one was quite damn tough. And IRL 20mm fused fine even vs canvas-skinned aircraft anyway.
Thank you for your bug report. I’m so happy people actually noticed this time, because the original problem persisted for YEARS and I was only able to replicate it once protection analysis appeared in game and even them it was largely ignored by the community.
True, I also suggested lowering HE fuze sensitivity to 0.01mm since the rounds that have this value or below still fuze.
I knew about it but it was incredibly hard to replicate or show a in-game footage.
Luckily the other day when I was flaying the La5-FN I had instant replay on, cuz the Mosquito I was fighting absolutely sponged all my rounds - showcasing the issue perfectly.
Well, theoretically reducing all fuse sensitivities is more inefficient and may create problems with any future weapons. Also it seems the bug resulted from some global aircraft wooden skin thickness/toughness reduction, which seems like a weird mistake, as it benefits soviet aircraft almost exclusively.
Do you by any chance know, how long has this new bug been around?
Yeah, it’s just what I found as a temp solution. It could also end up buffing guns all over the place lol.
I found out about it again around January I think. Thought it was Mg151/20 exclusive issue again / Prot analysis tweaking. As for the other weapons I found out like 2 months ago (but it was prob already an issue earlier than that).
When exactly did this change happen? At least with the japanese guns I’ve been having little trouble, though I have had a lot of “Hits” that just do nothing and force me to get very close to them.
Japanese 30mm had absolutely ridiculous fuses, so it was probably hard to tell. I’ve basically resigned from Air RB because I thought I now suck monkey nutz as I was scoring a hit after hit after hit on soviet planes and was not able to kill them quickly… In Ground RB I was recently having trouble killing people, but when I landed a long burst on Mosquito and only small holes appeared and only 1 M-geschoss hole was there when I struck aileron, I knew there’s something going on, also SB2M was tanking 37mm in test drive without taking any damage.
I don’t know if it really is like that since January, like our colleague here says, or maybe it’s more recent, as people in Ground RB are so bad even this bug rarely saves them, though I had one hell of a problem killing Yak-9K. Not hitting, but killing.
I just went through every relevant japanese air gun in protection analysis, only the 13.2mm Type 3 actually fuses. The rest - if they hit an empty wing section, they just pass through with no damage.
The tail will fuse them and 20mm mineshells though, despite being empty.
It makes little sense, but from what I’ve seen the only HE rounds that are fuzing either have 0.01mm fuze sensitivity or lower or they have no fuze delay at all.
