TL;DR: Centurion Mk13 with Markmsan turret.

Hello, and welcome to my suggestion. Today I would like to present a tank, who just like the ancient rome soilders provided sheild over their mates heads againts arrows, will provide a sheild over their teammates heads against enemy planes.

Introducing

Centurion Marksman

History

Following a worldwide market survey into the type of air defence system required to protect armoured and mechanised formations and units from the low-level fighter ground attack aircraft and the pop-up helicopter threat, in 1983 the Marconi Command and Control Systems commenced development of a prototype of the Marksman twin 35 mm anti-aircraft turret. The principal feature of the Marksman gun turret was that it was a completely self-contained turret, which can be fitted to any Main Battle Tank hull or large Armoured Personnel Carrier hull without modification. The first prototype was completed in 1984
with a turret of mild steel, while the second, fully armoured and equipped to production standard, was completed in 1985. Following the creation of the production standard turret, a series of tests, trials and demonstrations was carried out using a bunch of different tank hulls. Centurion Mk13 was one of the hulls used for tests and demonstrations. Fitting of the turret took place somewhere between 1985 and 1988, followed by a series of trials. The turret failed to pick up interest of the British army, but was succesfully sold to the Finnish army, where it was fitted into T-55 chassis.

Now its time to talk about the specifications.

I know right. We are in desperate need of a 5.3, 8.3 and 10.3 spaa

imagine my shock when I look at the British 8.3 SPAA

surely we need another :)

Might as well add a fourth to the 8.3 lineup! But seriously, other than the hull, what will this particular variant offer over what the Chieftain Marksman already has?

Its the same turret on a different hull.

Interesting suggestion, but there would be no reason to add yet another “possible” 8.3 SPAA, unless it pushes my beloved Falcon back down!

Its not about it beeing needed or not. There were 6 additional Marksman hulls that could be suggested. I just did 5 out of them.

We need to have 8 marksmans in the british tree alone, no arguments.

Just have an entire rank dedicated to Marksmans

Man only 3? That’s not even a full lineup! cries in American

Gotta have that full line-up of nothing but SPAA

Me when the USA SPAA line is drier than my life (impossible)

There’s another another suggestion for the trials Rooikat ZA 35 without its optics

Yeah but that’s most likely going to be 7.0 or so unless they invoke the British tax and put it at 9.0 for being a faster TD compared to the ZA-35.

I actually wanted the ZA 35 IFT to be 7.7 and the Centurion Marksman can be 7.0, but Britain needs an AA from 6.7 to 8.3 (I say 6.7 cause the some might say the Bosvark is enough until then)

Cent can’t be 7.0. it’s still a marksman.
