CAS problem

It’s because realistic is so not realistic. You would never deploy tanks without a good umbrella. It’s just random spawn and people will just adapt to the best possible outcome.

The only thing that can fix this is quotas of anti air or AI air defense over deployment area. Then spawned Anti would have to advance with tanks.

This would require much larger maps for ground.

Trouble is every game company has Fornite envy now and continue to turn their games into death funnels.

even with russia having both the best SPAA and AGMs, the pantsir isnt enough.
when i play russia i literally pray that the enemy SPAA manages to kill the su-30 because of how free the kills are for CAS.
and on the other hand when i face a rafale or eurofighter on a map where they can easily fly near the ground without me seeing them, i simply accept death and rotate around like a schizo trying to find where the aircraft is

In the context it was given, it appeared to be serious. As a vehicle for TO…it wasn’t a good idea.

I’d be inclined to agree, at least in theory if nothing else.

I suspect the trigger-queue idea is the best avenue to realize TO in practice: my idea about it is that the matchmaker for a given +/- 1.0 BR range assembles enough (~16-32) people ‘open’ (opt-in via settings) to TO queuing in a given range of RB GFs MM, it tosses them into a TO battle and voila…

Good spaa controlled by AI is making CAS players crying again and again flooding the forum about spaa bias.

Where did i say it was

In our defence (ASB):

In what world is it realistic for an ostwind or their ilk to be driving at ~35-45 km/h on rocky, hilly lumpy terrain…

See a plane flying past at 2.5-3 km altitude at 450-600 km/h.

And shoot it out of the sky (defined as oil leak, severe engine damage) the moment the convoy finally renders?

In ASB, unless you have guided munitions convoy SPAA is impossible to engage - making the objective impossible to complete at WW2 brackets where you’d be using dive bombing and IL-2 and rocket strafing to engage such objectives.

This makes the objective impossible to complete, causing it to become a ticket RNG and limiting gameplay space to only engaging with A.I bomber objectives, air superiority objectives and battlefield tank battles.

Ideally, the ASB convoy SPAA would be coded to require proper real life tactical bombing methods.

This would be:

  1. Fly at ~400-500 km/h at 1.5 to 2 km altitude depending on aircraft.
  2. Line up the convoy with inner 1/3 of your wing
  3. Turn onto the convoy once lined up.
  4. Initiate 70 to 90 degree dive, accelerate to 550-600 km/h (faster - the more accurate, but harder to pull out in time).
  5. Release bomb at ~500-900 meter altitude depending on your aircraft
  6. Pull out into a flat extension to get out of the flak/AAA cone asap
  7. Begin climbing.

This is the prescribed, proven and true WW2 dive bombing method for dumb bombs. See Spitfire manual by the air ministry that I’m sure I had had linked earlier. For rocket strafes, the angle of dive can be reduced to 60 degrees (as discussed for P-47 and P-51 at least).

Of course this should still carry risk - but the convoy should either stop to be able to hit you or only have a window for doing under 800 meters to the SPAA in question to encourage optimal angles, speeds and extension methods, and definitely not what we have right now where it snipes you mid air at 2-3 km away at 2-3 km altitude without warning the moment it renders in.

It also requires convoys to finally render at a proper distance and not randomly disappear. While trying to practice proper dive bombing procedure in customs, mission editor and test flight, I’d regularly witnessed my target tanks and SPAA to literally phase out of reality as I circled at 2 km altitude and I was using Tunisia to ensure maximum visibility against the desert sand.

In that vein,

@Pangolin_Fan At WW2 brackets, you should heed the above dive-bombing strategy if you think SPAA are overpowered. Gun SPAA is not gonna be able to hit a small fighter-bomber at 1.5-2km altitude and will have a terrible time catching you during that short dive bombing section.

The British and germans and americans did this kind of tactical bombing for a reason. Especially the germans, they hyper-optimized it with their stuka.

Of course, graphical settings must be optimized for spotting from such high up, which is a lament I can concede towards because I really hate how rendering in this game often forces you to use really ugly post-fx settings just to be able to spot enemies in SB.

was what

SPAA is spawned more times than CAS in a game. CAS is the most expensive tech tree vehicle you can bring into a battle whereas SPAA is the cheapest. 0.1-0.3kd assumes that every death is because of CAS hence 3 air kills per 10 spawns. However, this doesn’t take into account the fact that you’re more likely to be killed by an enemy tank than an enemy plane.

It’d be more pertinent to look at vehicles that have less of a chance to directly engage enemy tanks such as the Ozelot and Japanese SPAA as they warrant a more defensive playstyle.

However it doesn’t take into account that against tank , 90% of the time is your fault for dying to tank. There always counterplay for Tank-Tank action.

Against CAS ? Yeah sure buddy just raise your main gun or MG to shoot down that CAS.

Such an ignorant take on CAS using it spawn cost as one of the many reason why it is fine against SPAA. When scouting exist and even after the SP nerf it still doesn’t change the whole picture cause scouting exist.

Then SPAA role as a playable vehicle in a GRB match , beside it role against air target it offer nothing else to the match. Can’t contest cap , can’t push , can’t fight.

Meanwhile CAS have all the tool in the world to decimate everything in it way , just because your average CAS player are glue sniffer doesn’t make CAS any weaker.

You mistake what my post was trying to say, the person I was responding to used a direct attack at my stats to say that a .3 air KD would mean that CAS is indeed strong but the thing is that air KD in SPAA is harder because you spawn SPAA a lot more than the enemy spawns air. SPAA, can fight (with the exception of the uppermost SPAAs) decently against enemy vehicles in a side aspect.

No , I do not care about your stats. You didn’t even bother to read what I said and just assume it to be something else. Yeah your stats is shit, who care ?

The thing is , it is not about whether a SPAA can fight decently or not , what I said was what they can offer to a match beside being an Anti-Air vehicle. If that the case then most of them unable to fight actual tank and even if they can , doesn’t mean they should.

Sure some can fight tank decently , ok anything else ??? That still doesn’t change the fact that for the majority of SPAA in the game currently, they just not worth the 80SP require to spawn them in, they offer little to nothing to the actual match. They should be giving me 80SP to spawn these stuff in. Might as well get another Light out there to do something actually useful. Or just move on to the next game because either way your team is down one man.

Why the hell would I care about their combat ability when their main role is fighting CAS and they are not even decent at it. You can’t even see the whole picture and SPAA gameplay why bother yapping ? No wonder they pulled out your stats against you.

Bro popped! Another game of saving another fellow tanker’s behind.

Shot the bomb it dropped resulting in saving a tanker from CAS with a baby 7.7mm machine gun.

It’s not the vehicle, its the user. But it’s ok if you don’t want to play them.

Wild how you fail to read what he posted. He just said that “its ok if you don’t want to play them” and you try to be funny about it? Sure shooting a bomb to save a team mate isn’t a common occurance but its still more productive than sitting on the forum trying to nitpick counter arguments.

Moral of the story: If it bothers you enough to annoy you then develop a strategy to deal with it.
example: play a aircraft dedicated to killing CAS or ya know PLAY SPAA.

There is no strategy to fighting against something that can hit you from any direction. Unless you think that everytime we do anything we’re to hide away in a corner and do nothing in the chance that CAS could blow us up. Having to main SPAA isn’t fun either since it’s 98% doing nothing or getting blown up anyways.

If I’m going to play a plane, I’ll play a game mode that’s optimized for flying planes in (64x64 or 128x128 map size, 3 hour max match length, fun control scheme, no random A.I AAA less than 10 km from the battle area).

As for SPAA -

How do you hit a small fighter bomber like a corsair or hellcat or bearcat flying at 1.5-2.0 km altitude and occasionally rolling over to dive at some unsuspecting tank at a 60-80 degree (90 if helldiver/stuka/similar) to then pull out at a speed exceeding 600 km/h after dropping at 500-700 meter altitude?

wild how you do the same thing youre criticizing in the next paragraph.

the point of this thread is discussing how to fix “aircraft dedicated to killing CAS or ya know PLAY SPAA” not being enough to counter overpowered CAS aircraft.

i play pantsir occasionally and its not enough to counter certain CAS, and its literally the best SPAA in the game. and if i wanted to play aircraft myself, then i would go play air RB which exists unlike actual ground RB

Öhm… what if u dont want to Play Planes or SPAA, when ure just here to play Tanks in a Mode that is all about Tanks vs Tanks, Capturing Points, Scout Enemy Tanks, Use Artillery on enemy Tanks?

Oh and… u forget that to kill the CAS, you have to die first. But u dont need to die as CAS to counter my SPAA… thats one of the biggest issue with the CAS frustration in general.
People complain its OP (and it is) but if Tankers could counter them on first engagement, without the need to die, then you could argue about Skill and developing a counter tactic.

But right now (or soon) the only “tank” that can “spawn” an SPAA without dying, will be the new Radartrucks.

And with that mechanic comes a solution to CAS, that gaijin just needs to add now… give every Tank the Option to spawn SPAA (with SP cost ofc) besides it within like 10sec and being able to switch to it like u can with the new MultiSPAA systems or UAV or Atombomber or Ship launched Planes…

The mechanic exist already, it would not break the game, it would make the frustration that ure “helpless” in your tank go away, it would simply make the game more balanced, fun, skillbased and simply better.

If you don’t use all the tools given to you in a mode which is all about combined arms (and not tanks) thats a you problem.
You put yourself at a disavdantage and thats only on you.

To spawn CAS you have to die to. It’s such a stupid argument anyway. God forbid you die in a pvp game with multiple respawns.

Again, you have the tools to fight CAS, be it SPAA or a plane of your own.
If you are in a MBT you have to accept, that you most likely wont shoot down a plane. There are enough ways to make you an unattractive target.

Luckily Gaijin doesn’t listen to stuff like this…

@Surbaissemaxxing Flag abuse going on here again.
