Me and it seems many others can’t even start the game after the update. The game opens and goes through loading screens with “Logging in, please wait…” and “Connecting to game servers…” then the game crashes.
The problem seems to be related to Intel ARC graphics cards.
I get two error boxes:
One with “Critical Error”, "Unable to recover 3D device. Try updating/clean installing the video driver. [8111000D].
And one with “FATAL ERROR”, “can’t reset 3d device…”
I am currently in contact with support but they have not tried to fix anything yet, just asked me to install new drivers and do a clean installation which i have done and it has not helped.
The game stopped working after the “Ninth Wave” update, because of the update and not because i installed new drivers.
Just wanted to post this to show people with the same problem, you are not alone.
yes this has been happening to me a bit, but with a different error, where it will freeze for about 15 seconds or so, my entire laptop would become unresponive, then the screen would go black and i would have to log into my own laptop, only to be greeted with error 81110012: Critical error. Game will be closed. i can barely play the game today even and am waiting for a response on the help desk.
Try switching to DX11 in the client before starting the game.
If you have any custom content then i recommend removing that as well.

Me too, exactly the same, but my error is 8111000A “Freeze detected.” I was going to reinstall the game, but it doesn’t seem to have worked. I’ve also contacted technical support and updated my video card driver (Intel), but still nothing.
Edit: I also checked the integrity of the files (before and after updating the graphics card).
Already tried dx11, both through steam launch commands and gaijin launcher. Not working.
I have already submitted a support ticket but they’re not so quick it seems, last thing they told me to do is to do a “clean” install of gpu drivers, which is not working either. It’s not the drivers that are faulty it’s the game update.
It’s just extremely frustrating to lose login rewards, login streak, premium time and boosters. I even pre-ordered a tank i was very excited to play with but i don’t get to play the new update yet.
Be patient, bro, I understand, we just have to wait a little while. Remember that before this update, Gaijin suffered a hacker attack and then a bug before releasing the update; I think that has something to do with what’s happening to us.
TLDR (and might not be completely accurate):
DX (Direct X) is basically a set of instruction for how your pc parts and all the different parts within any game are supposed to communicate with each other. Newer version means “upgraded” instructions. In war thunder the DX12 is still in beta so while it can give better fps for the same graphics settings (or better graphics settings for the same fps) it’s not always stable and can sometimes cause issues, especially after larger updates.
anyone know if they will extend the naval event? i have not been able to login since the update, game wont even launch for me and im no to happy about it.
same here , these DEVS have messed up the update so much that my game wouldn’t even mind opening after loging in
