Can you WT players give me some PROS and CONS for the premium MiG 23ML? I recently thought of buying it, I also created this topic to give help to new players(kinda like me, lol) Anyway if possible I’m asking you guys to give a pros and cons(both included) in a single comment! I hope this topic helps you!
Pros:
Great flight performance, extremely fast, variable sweep wing, great radar missiles, silly IR missiles, J band radar (undetectable)
Cons:
Russian gun, auto radar mode (for some reason, shouldn’t even have it), R-60Ms are short range
The performance got butchered a lot, its not the monster it was.
still not that bad
Wait for the Christmas sale and then buy it. It’s decent enough for a grinder.
Or wait for the new premiums that will come on the christmas update
Upsides: Good SARH missile, good speed and decent manevuerability, IRST and long range IR missiles, 72x large countermeasures
Downsides: R-60M’s (worst all-aspect IR missile), radar changes mode from MTI to SRC above 1500 m, low ammo and terrible cannon ballistics, SPO-10 RWR
R-24R’s are really good missiles, and the radar has a chaff filter on it so can make some good shots with it.
The radar isnt that great. I was looking at a target visually but never picked it up on radar which was frustrating.
The flight performance is good, but the engines are very thirsty. You have to choose between fuel and extra countermeasures and with the current BR set up, i would go with the countermeasures and make sure you are just managing your fuel usage.
has good bonuses for girding. Sales are coming up so if you want to pick it up wait a few months. Also the last update of the year will happens soon as well and there may be a better option if you wanting to grind out the TT.
You also have to remember that things always change in WT. Good today doesnt mean good tomorrow.
Radar probably will be buffed when it will get BSI modes.
Pros: Strong R-24, both SARH and IR variants. High top speed. Stealthier radar. Good rate at low speeds, with wing folded forward. Cannon hits very hard.
Cons: Variable-geometry wing, giving awful retention at high speeds. Mediocre R-60M. Horrible RWR. Radar is russian, and inconsistent. Cannon has very low trigger time and wonky ballistics.
Adequate fighter overall, still good in meta. Worst thing you can see is the F-90 and AIM-54 spamming tomcats.
Only con I haven’t seen mentioned is for a newer player to enter into 11.7 without prior experience the learning curve when uptiered to 12.3-12.7 can cost you matches and frustration. You will need to watch some YouTube videos to get a better understanding of how ARH missiles function (that you won’t immediately know how to counter) and how to properly fly defensively. As well as how to deactivate and evade IR missiles such as the R73 and aim9m.
Learning these without instruction will be frustrating for you and your team.
Pros: Its a MiG-23
Cons: Its a MiG-23
True, the J-band radar is literally invisible to a lot of planes. Unless the opponent sees you, you are going to destroy them. Otherwise, I heard the R-24R is really good, whats ur opinion? And thanks for the tip!!!
Really, i didnt know that, well thanks!
My brain is already losing its sanity playing WT, I…i… Im just gonna buy it(lol)
I hate the low 200 ammo canon, but you cant go wrong with(I think) 27mm canon… and even tho I haven’t even bought the MiG, I cant wait for the R-24R missile ;)
Can u reccomend me some vids?? and some good channels? plus I ain’t even done anything below 10.0, I am still stuck with german low tier(lol) plus how much hours would you think for me(a normal, not a P2W player) take to reach top tier? I just wanna know my options… anyways thx a lot :)
Which depletes in 3 sec :)
NR-30 is much better at damage and ballistics than GSH-23
this is probably the best video to counter the high tier IR missiles https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q4PMaFA9Obs
and for Radar Missiles https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l80IHJPOh9w
Defyn is a solid pilot and is right 95% of the time when it comes to game mechanics and tactics.
Right now the best way/most reliable way to defeat radar missiles is to fly under 30 meters, but who wants to do that all the time.
