Think the screenshot explains my anger and frustration -
just use steam then, they have better servers for downloading anyway
Some bugs only present itself via steam launcher.
On my current theory best to try and replicate it cross board so SA client is needed.
steam launches the gaijin launcher
If both are downloading at the same time you’re likely eating up your entire total bandwidth and steam takes priority not letting the standalone client use any of the bandwidth, if you pause the steam download you should see a jump in speeds for the client (also double check so that there are no limiters active in the client).
Screenshot is just to show the diffirence. Launcher peaked at 23MB/s while doing nothing, not even watching a YT video.
Reminder - I am the one that made a whole thing on bandwidth and why a player connection could be bad & internet is slow.
23MB/s (~190Mbps) is still a fair bit faster than the global average (its actaully higher than a large majority of countrys averages as well Internet Speeds by Country 2025 ).
Sure it could be higher, but it isn’t really that bad. The reason Steam is faster is because steam provides their own servers for the downloads of games and updates and steam has a bit more budget to play with and far more server resources x) , the client uses Gaijins own servers for downloads.
I am from South Africa…
So you’re getting almost 5x your Countrys average speed in the client alone and like 20x the average on Steam XD
