Can the a29 Super Tucano be added now?

The pride of the Brazilian Air Force, the best light attack aircraft in the world, superior to the AT-6 Wolverine and capable of performing most of the A-10’s functions at a much lower cost, this aircraft could be added to the US, UK, and possibly Italian lines if a Brazilian sub-tree is created. It would be cool in versions 9.0 to 10.0 with AIM-9L and GBU/AGM, even with different functions, it would be quite fun to have a modern turboprop aircraft in the game. In fact, I consider it a P-51D with SAS, GBU, modern electronics, AGM, and missiles!

What tech tree can it even go to. The only one I can think of is Italy because of the amx

The United States operates them, and the United Kingdom, if I’m not mistaken, also operates them. Brazil is not a sub-nation line of any italia yet; the AMX-A1 is just a Brazilian-Italian aircraft.

The UK operated a license-built version of the original T-27 Tucano with a different engine, built by Short Brothers in Belfast, Northern Ireland. Not AT-29 Super Tucano, which is an entirely separate aircraft.
The UK’s Tucanos didn’t have the capability to carry weapons at all, but the Short Tucano was marketed with armament for foreign customers

That’s right, but is it known if they operated .50 caliber or some other caliber? Because the Tucanos and Super Tucanos operated and still operate with .50 caliber in their wings! I think the British one was for training and aerobatics, but it was once armed. I remember seeing a ground attack training exercise of a black Tucano with an RAF roundel. I don’t know, I think, I’m not sure!

As much as I’d love such aircraft, I am worried about how they could be balanced, as their prop performance paired with often very modern weaponry puts them in a position that’s not fitting easily into WT…

No. It’d be better if they gave it 9Bs and dumb bombs for an early version (7.0-7.7~), and guided stuff + 9J at 9.3-9.7. It probably won’t be a fun time there, but since we got separated BRs for ground and air now, it should be fine.

I think it wouldn’t be difficult! Because, theoretically, it has a lot of torque, which could allow for very fast acceleration and a buffed speed of up to 650 km/h, which I think is ideal, and it would be perfect on the 9.7 with 4x AIM9L missiles. Or we could forget all that and add it without missiles but with 2x guided GBU missiles on the 6.3!

Ok good Idea, is better 6.7 aim9b

Nah, ours didn’t have capability for any kind of armament when they were in service. Not even CBLS for dropping 3kg practice bombs.
A-29 has inbuilt .50 cals in the wings but the T-27 didn’t, and carried them on gunpods. The RAF’s Tucanos had no provision for weapon hardpoints; so no gunpods.

There’s a company in the USA that has taken ex-RAF Short Tucanos and upgraded them to carry weapons and a targeting system by modifying the wings, fuselage and cockpit.

But they didn’t have any of those provisions when they were in British service.

Short offered them with gun pods and the appropriate hardpoints for export.

I think Kuwait was the only operator that might have put any armament on them though, in the form of gun pods

Oh boy, that would be a slaughter…

Hahaha, the Mirage 5f 10.0 with 2x Magic 1s also does that, but nobody messes with it! I think a 6.7 to 7.0 with 2x AIM-9B or D and all the solo air capabilities would be interesting; it would be almost one of the best CAS (Combat Air Combat) guns, but limited to 2 kills with GBU 58/12 or AGM 65, but potentially reaching 4x with Hellfire. I really wanted a 6.3 because it would be a P51D with more sustain but worse overall performance, but with 2x AIM-9B! That would be perfect.

Actually, I looked more closely at the operators and discovered something: besides the US, Portugal operates it in the NATO A29N version, so it would also go to Italy; Indonesia and Malaysia also operate it, so Japan would receive it, and Chile/Colombia as well, so it could go to Israel. But I think they could officially include Brazil in Italy as a sub-nation or in the US, since we are also Americans! I don’t have arguments, but I defend the idea of Brazil in the US; we have been allies since 1824 and fought together in WWII. I see no reason why such a thing shouldn’t be done.

Hope for Colombia-Israel super tucano.

Would be a shame Israel not having it when the plane uses israeli electronics and armament.

The Brazilian and Colombian players operate with Python 4! I’m not sure about the Chilean player.

That and more.

A unique thing about colombian super tucano its they added the Delilah cruise missile.

Chile can use the python missile in the super tucano. They also have python missile in their inventory, because other aircrafts that uses them (like the F-5)

Personally, I see no issue with putting bad airframes at BR’s appropriate for their weaponry, like, it’s clear that a crop duster with hellfires will get stomped by a mig29 so why bother trying to make the crop duster fit? It’s a silly vehicle with silly weapons at a silly BR, if you do well with it then that’s extremely funny, if not, what were you expecting, it’s a crop duster.

I would like to see the super tucano added but I think first we need

A. A proper home for Brazil
B. Some standard for well armed COIN props like this

As odd as it sounds, I think turboprops could work in a separate area like helis are to research. I always like the idea of UCAVs, COIN and Helis being on the same page but it would require tree reorganization.
