Can someone help me fix this lag it's genuinely unplayable

I’m on a gaming laptop with a 4060 and Ryzen 7 8845HS, and the whole time I’ve had this laptop (nearly a year), I’ve only been able to play on lowest settings. Recently it got so much worse. Here are the things I’ve tried:

  • Rolling back drivers.
  • DX11, DX12, Vulkan.
  • DLSS is too blurry as I’m on 1080p.
  • Nearly every setting on Nvidia Control Panel.
  • Restarting my laptop (obviously).
  • Reinstalling War Thunder.
  • Battery settings on pretty much everything.
  • VSYNC.
  • I’ve had the fps locked to either 144 or 120 but even if I get those FPS, if it drops to like 143 or 119 it gets very stuttery (and like I said before, even if it says a stable framerate it feels much lower).
A lot of the time it will say I’m at a stable 144 FPS on the bottom corner but in reality it seems much worse and it’s very choppy/stuttery. Nvidia Overlay and other overlays are generally turned off all the time for me.

The video isn’t doing me much justice but if you can see the lag then that’s good.

Im on phone rn so i cant say for sure but your graphics look very high for a laptop with a 4060

Yes that’s because of the time of day in test drive, hazy looks good.

  1. The video had all lowest settings except effects and tyre tracks on medium.
  2. I didn’t use anti aliasing except for 2x SSAA.

No, the lag isn’t caused by these two settings either.

Sorry I cant really help other than to say that I’ve been getting some stuttering issues recently too, though not to the point its unplayable. It tends to be whenever I change views / fire my weapons.

GPU is slightly worse than you and I can run at a mostly stable 120fps in 1080p High (used to run 144fps 1080p movie less than a year ago lol)

Edit: just realised you didnt mention it, have you tried rolling back drivers/updating to newer ones?

I am on a laptop though so the 4060 is equivalent to about a desktop 3060, IF my laptops TGP was higher. Maybe that’s the issue (but not sure because it was fine a while ago).

And yes, I did mention that I rolled back drivers and it seems like the one from like March is the “best” for now. I’ve also done DDU.

Yeah, as I said its slightly better than mine. Also the 6GB 3050 is underclocked (which is odd because I have a factory overclocked underclocked one lol)

Sorry I didnt see it.

It’s fine I might’ve just fixed it anyway, but now my Medal is broken from the War Thunder reinstall I did last night lmao. Also I want to use MSI Afterburner to mess with my GPU but I’m kinda scared to as I’m broke rn but won’t matter as I THINK it’s fixed.

The funny this is I already had most of these settings but maybe just do it again from scratch. I do know that there were like one or two settings which I didn’t know of so it’s better to just try.

Have you tried to use DLAA instead of SSAA? SSAA is the most demanding AA available.

No idea how to and 2x SSAA is much less demanding than 4x
