Gaijin does a far from good job of explaining different mechanics, so a deep dive into YouTube tutorials is recommended. As the fella above me linked, Defyn is a great channel for learning these mechanics, as is Tim’s Variety (Linked Below), which also has some great reviews on vehicles

If you only care about what youll be using most for ARB then heres the quick and short answer:

Youre gonna want to go over your controls and make comfortable binds for switching radar modes, adjusting scope sizes, and locking in a target. All of these setting will usually come up when you search “Radar” on the aircraft controls menu.

To be able to use your sparrows youll want to utilize TWS (track while scan) mode, in this mode the radar will “soft lock” a specific target, which means the player you lock on will not get an RWR signature, while actively scanning for other targets within your scope’s limits. Optionally you can use regular SRC PD (search pulse doppler) but this will not give you a soft lock. Other radar modes in ARB are fairly niche and situational I believe just starting out SRC PD will be your backup option and TWS will be your main mode.

Your RWR (radar warning receiver) is your lifeline, you want to keep tabs on it frequently and use it to orient your radar scope if needed, it helps target ID and location, it also helps to identify where a missile has been fired from in the case that its an ARH missile.

Like FordPrefect3 said YouTube is your best source for deep and detailed info on radars for just about any airframe in game currently. Take that FA18A out on custom air battles and mess around with it to get a feel for it and experiment.
