Hi, can anyone help ID this feature? It’s from the Bushmaster MR6 using a Kongsberg Protector RWS competing for a UK contract. I’m trying to figure out what the black box on the left side of the images is?

The Kongsberg Protector RS6 is a modular system, which means need little modification to fit various types of weapon, in this case I suppose is a place to fit Anti-Tank Guided Missiles.
If it is, I’m trying to also figure out which missile it is. It’s clearly not the Javelin like in the photo you posted.
Might just be a temporary mockup to show that there can be things fitted there and then have a pamphlet with options to show the costumer. I’ve searched around a bit but haven’t found anything that looks like that.
Javelin maybe?
First thought was a balance module thought at the same time, it has quote a bit of detail on it. Based on other sources or images it could be a DIRCM, Optical Sensor or Acoustic sensor. Either way, very curious myself now. Do not seem to find other similar looking modules in design.
@GTP_Paulie-psn any info on the vehicle intent configuration? Like recon / command / etc?
A guess, but I’d reckon it’s a pyrotechnic launcher for simulating missiles rather than an actual weapon
What confuses me the most is the “Flash-hider” design of the lens hood (i assume that’s what the front cylinder is). Any optical sensor or camera would want to shield the sides from interfering light right? Those holes are something mostly seen on weaponry or dispensers to hide the flash.
But i might be completely wrong :P
Yes and no, in a weapon aspect very much yes. But the design use is not limited to just firearms or for the same purpose as firearms. What we looking at is just slotted perforation that can be applied for many reasons. Here it can be anything from muzzle device to a filter. For example, if it is a filter it can be a refractive light filter or acoustic “shield”.
EDIT : The misaligned bolting of the base plate to the shroud makes me think it is not projectile based as that tends to be more precise.
It was a contender for this if it helps.
Maybe it really is just a display piece intended to show something can be there without actually putting something there.
