It was buffed since release bro, in what way was it nerfed.
Buffs that phoenix got:
-Massive fin aoa buff that let it pull more.
-Massive seeker gimbal limit buff.
I honestly don’t know where you’re seeing these buffs in the game, because there’s no way you launch 6 missiles from 7 km altitude and none of them hit a target below at an average distance of 40–50 km.
You must be playing some alternate universe version of the game.
It’s cause back then people didn’t know how to notch, as fox 3s was a new mechanic that was first introduced and back then people didn’t have good rwrs that we have today (rwr rework). Nowadays, anyone can avoid the phoenix because it is very easy to notch
- 0 excuse for leaving the seeker artificially nerfed and it’s not the only problem
- The IRCCM IS broken at the moment. Heck Aim-9Ms are broken, they randomly go AWOL
Stop defending Gaijin. They. Must. Action. Bug. Reports.
Many of them are 2 or 3 years old at this point. There are even more older than that.

honestly no idea. I think they model ejection rail timings (not that that delays guidance, only motor start) but the missiles are all rail launch which makes even less sense why there is any delay
IR shutoff has always been weird. Pre-flare sensitive cause it just won’t lock aircraft, the time between launch and seeker shutoff is seemingly long.
But once it’s launched and has time to track, it does its IOG correctly.
Of course, it’s still AIM-9L agility, so it’s susceptible to the same kinetic defeat options.

I thought I wasn’t the only one going crazy with this. With multiple recent games notably using the AIM-9M, especially at times during close front aspect, makes me cringe at how bad the seeker is at picking up a lock (even with radar slaving assist), making me wonder if the AIM-9L would fare better in the same scenario.
yep for some reasons you cant push the r73 to its limit since it always does stall out when doing a funny sharp turn at close distance… and the pl8 is somehow worse than the pl5e´s so idk what your point with the russian and chinese bias…

I find that R-73s are much easier to flare than Aim-9Ms, especially at closer ranges. In general IRCCM seems a lot weaker than it used to, and I’m not sure why.
You see it’s bias because they are both not western, clearly this means Gaijin treats them equally well. Please just ignore that the J-10C gets a worse engine than it should for 14.3, while the Su-30SM2 gets a much more powerful engine.

Sad that it got bugged, especially since it was functioning a few days ago on my Gripen.

well the irccm from r73´s is just make the seek angle smaller, which is quite good at close ranges but has its problems at further ranges.
yup heard the false engine and its stupid they got the weaker one to begin with. and it also looks like the mig25 will be weaker than it should be on launch, so idk why its always china and ussr which has the bias. its true that the sm2 is good and it will make the rafale dominance more contested in toptier
