So i thought it through, and realized we have the GBU-27 ingame, but only on the F-117. If the F-117 carries the GBU-27, jets like the F-16C/CM/D/I and the F-15E/I should be able to either carry the GBU-27 or the GBU-31(V)3/B or the GBU-31(V)4/B like they have been in real life. I also think the F-16s should be able to carry GBU-10/16’s. Anyways here are some photos with F-16’s and F-15’s with bunker busters
Yes, my point being there are no such targets in WT…
I’ve been asking for modular, properly modelled ground targets since a long time: Let us attack individual HAS on airfields, individual factory buildings, etc, instead of those hitpoint area mission targets that only make sense for carpet bombing (and even then are overly simplified, obviously…).!
Yeah I would like the see the large empty areas in the RB maps get hardened bases that require more specialized munitions to destroy. you could even add in bases with layered air defense that has to be destroyed with standoff weapons before you have to approach and hit them with bunker busters to finally destroy them, but that would probably be more for sim, I doubt you would have time to do it in RB with the speed the matches end.
Unfortunately when you try to suggest things like this in the “napalm OP” threads it just gets drowned out.
Now I’m juuuuust saying… but there TOTALLY is the option of modeling tunnels and underground objectives for maps… just imagine a B cap underground in a series of tunnels… and having to use a bunker buster to wipe out everything inside…
Would be cool, same with buildings that bunker busting bombs actually work against… Having a 1000kg AP bomb hit the roof of some mall and doing nothing to the targets beneath it is… saddening…
At the moment, they would be largely a waste of a hard point, but if they actually added different types of bombing target, then they would become really valuable. As it stands the regular GBUs hold nearly no meaningful value in any air mode and that is a real shame. So I think the first step is to overhaul bases to give value to regular GBUs first (the deep strike bases would be perfect for that) and then to add versions that were reinforced where bunker busters would then hold actual, meaningful value

I agree with adding objectives that would require bunker busters/very large ordinance to destroy. We have only had bases, airfields, and ground units for a decade now.
Also, groups of infantry would be fun to cluster bomb 💥
Now that you say that, that could be a very good idea, make bases that can only be damaged by bunker busters, to help give bombers something that cant be stolen, or gives it a purpose, (I could get behind dropping a bunker buster on a tank tho >:) )
Maybe it’s back in rotation then, I had heard it was removed and I have not seen it in years, I’ll have to remember to check the map list next time I log in.
Nice, I’m going to have to make some solo custom games and explore the naval maps better.
