BUK M3 is ridiculously unreliable

why is it so bad? i have played a few battles with it now, it is absurdly trash. the radar fails to pick up enemy jets/helis i can see myself with my bare eyes. the missles miss a lot, countless times now they failed to hit jets or even helis flying at just 5km!

the procedure goes: radar picks up jet at 10km, okay i fire two missles. i watch on my radar screen as the enemy disappears and both my missles miss. okay, a few seconds later he appears on my radar again, this time at around 5km - i launch three missles this time. i can see the jet in the sky approaching me, soon after i see the three missles coming after him and they mysteriously all …miss? few seconds later i get bombed

i dont understand, am i doing something wrong? the iris-t slm is just so much better, it makes me wonder why the buk is just this bad? i honestly would choose the pantsir over the buk considering the state it is in currently

I thought everyone called it “too OP” and 5x more powerful then Pansir. And the Top 1 SPAA and impossible to multipath it because of how big it is.

  • Dude is salvo firing at a single target with missiles that have the exhaust plume of a small nation.

Lmao

If I can hit people with the vastly inferior AIM-120-C7 you can hit them with the 9M317MA, certified skill issue.

Both systems that require little player intervention isn’t related to skill, it’s the best definition to point and click before the new airplane radar UI buttons, at best how you and where in the map you apply those, Buk-M3 will perform better in more plain maps where the enemy spawns directly with vision to the battle field (e.g. Breslau and Sands of Sinais), maps like Sweden depending where you spawn can help a lot evading mostly new anti-air missiles.

The only people dying to the AIM-120 from CLAWS are people who are asleep.
It is incredibly easy to avoid ARH/SACLOS while playing CAS at top tier.

IMO with the addition of the new FnF ATGMs on helis with LDIRCM multipath should be removed from these SPAA.

in the SPAA vs CAS battle, CAS is still winning by a long shot.

As of right now it’s not working at all, ghost targets everywhere, wrong position update, missiles being schizophrenic, launchers facing the wrong way or spinning to non existent targets, radar lock not working or failing to lock planes, can’t use the vehicles own radar to lock when the main radar was damaged and repaired…
Yeah, it’s not an IRIS-T contender.

I used BUK today, from my experience it’s pretty bad. It can’t hit an F18 flying 2km in the air plus it stalled because it was going up suddenly for some reason. I fired 4 missiles at it, and the last one hit it. Watch out, let’s say it was 15+km so you could say it managed to notch, but the character is literally standing in the sky and slowly falling but the missile simply refuses to go to the target.

The launcher sometimes won’t even fire a missile, it’s just that no matter how much I click and have a lock the missile won’t take off. And not to mention helicopters that it can’t hit on the move but, let’s say it’s multipathing, right? The radar sometimes doesn’t even update the target’s position and that really handicaps the system itself.

I’m not saying it should be capable of destroying planes on the runway but it needs some corrections, the missiles are good but there’s a bug that prevents it from going to the target. The system itself is certainly not as dangerous as everyone complains, the maps are too small, and the ones that are large you have nowhere to hide the launcher and radar because the maps are flat or have open sides where you can easily spawn camp from half the map. In any case, it needs some work.

Just like the pantsir has been for a long time, bugged but shadowed and ignored due to its reputation

And some really thought ARH AAs could dethrone the SLM.

They struggle against all helicopters and can be notched/MP’d, while IR missiles only fail to work against LDIRCM helicopters and are flared once every full moon.

I’ve been trying to play with the BUK M3 all day, I’ve only made 1 kill. So the radar doesn’t work at all. For some reason the radar only picks up ammunition and not planes. Helicopters aren’t even worth mentioning.

I noticed that my seeker locks onto something imaginary, so the plane won’t be hit by the missile. It’s literally unplayable, better to use Pantsir than Buk.

It happens to me again that the F15 flies straight towards me, it does a slight maneuver and the missile gives up tracking. I don’t see the point of adding a new system if it won’t work properly. But the important thing is that they complain about how it’s too OP, I just don’t see how.

You are firing 3 long range missiles at 5km. Think that says enough.

why is the iris-t slm capable of doing so? why does my buk m3 fail to hit jets flying at 15km pulling off the most low-effort maneuver ever?

The IRIS-T is capable of taking down an aircraft 5km away from it? I find that their missiles don’t pull enough at that range.

I’ve had the IRIS-T hit planes sub 1.5km away, front aspect.

Never had that, they mostly eat dirt in my games

Beside that, the buk missiles sometimes just forget they are missiles and become space rockets and fly away, this happens especially on close targets.

No yeah they do have that issue, but I doubt it’d hit at that range regardless.

mate i got over 100 games in the iris-t slm ive had its missles do a full 180 for a target that flew over my head to hit it

For me, the missiles eat dirt before doing any sort of special 180.

I don’t personally play it, only face it, so that’s probably the reason I’m seeing less of that.

tf else am i supposed to do? not shoot at all? what are you on
