The Buccaneer S.1 may truly be the weakest bomber in game. It has no ability to defend itself. No guns, No missiles, No CMs. It is one of the slower aircraft at its BR without 8x 1000lb bombs strapped to it and so cannot outrun other aircraft. It is not an agile aircraft and so struggles to evade hostile aircraft gun strafing it. You are a free kill. Every. Single. Match. Regardless of whether its an uptier or a downtier.
It has a single redeeming quality, It can kill 1.8 bases per sortie, though this isnt actually all that impressive imo given it can rarely actually use a single bomb.
A typical match in the Buc S1 consists of this. Be the last to actually get airbourne on your team, By the time you’ve reached an airspeed that you dont actually need flaps to stay airbourne, your entire team is 10km+ ahead of you. By the time you reach your team’s base line, the entire enemy team is buzzing around you, if you somehow manage to survive this, you may get through to drop some bombs onto a base or other target, but usually you are a free kill at this point and instantly killed.
Proposed solutions:
Give the Buc S1 it’s missing Napalm, just like the Buc S2, the Buc S1 should also have Napalm, this would allow the Buc S1 to carry the same base killing potential with significantly less weight. This was reported 3 years ago.
Give the Buc S1 airspawn, this way it stands a chance of survivng and doesnt have to deal with trying to take-off. It was placed at Rank VI for sole purpose of removing its air-spawn, but this is rediculous for a number of reasons, especially given comprable aircraft like the SAAB-105G has air-spawn
Potentially lower its BR to 8.3. It is incredibly hard to justify the current BR of 8.7 at this time. (It definetly needs a BR drop in ASB as 9.0 is just an insane BR for an unarmed aircraft)
Normally I would recommend just playing an aircraft like the Buc S1 in ASB, but between ASB’s abandonded nature and the fact the Buc S1 is 9.0 in SB for some insane reason, I cant think of any reason to actually play the Buc S1 in ASB, I am much better off just playing the Buc S2 which is vastly superior and only 0.3 BR higher.
Just as a final insult to injury. The HF-24 Marut, which is faster, turns better and actually has an effective means of self-defence, whilst also being a higher BR is for some insane reason is at Rank V and thus gets airspawn.
It is time to stop artificially nerfing one of the weakest bombers in game for no apparent reason. I have attempted to get this aircraft the buffs its needed in BR thread after BR thread, but it has always been ignored, so i’ve decided to try a dedicated thread for it
And it gets nerfed rewards for bringing that many bombs, and its better to just bring enough for 1 base anyways. Mudmovers are completely cucked with how the reward structure in game disincentives bringing more bombs. Only place this isn’t the case is in sim battles.
Yeah, you probably aren’t wrong. I need to test it, but Im not sure if 4x AI kills + 1 base kill is worth it. If nothing else, I feel like im actually helping my team more.
It’s kinda OP in ground rb/sb, air rb its just garbage, air sim it’s just mid. I can see it going down in air rb, air sim it’s probably fine. What would you even do to fix it, did it get cms later on irl or something maybe?
As stated above. Napalm so it can run a smaller bomb load but still kill bases and lower its rank to rank V so it can get airspawn. In ASB just drop its BR down to at least 8.7
Yeah, I’ve seen it used well before, Though i’ve never made the bullpups work for me. Last time I got a DH, I think all I did was blow someones track off. Even in the more powerful Buc S2, I got instantly sniped when I tried to use the bullpups.
Just more of a reason why airspawns should be based more on the specific plane rather than whatever class Gaijin thinks it fits into.
Stuff like the early Buccs, Yak-28, F-117, or the F-84Fs need airspawns to be competitive, but Gaijin doesn’t give them any. On the other hand you have stuff like the F-84Bs/Gs, or the Wyvern which don’t need an airspawn at all.
I want someone from gaijin to give proper reasoning for why some planes move/haven’t moved just so I can see the mental gymnastics they pull.
If we consider Gaijin’s stance about the British, I am sure that we would end up with removing air spawn from Marut, and no buff on Bucc.
Well, with a joke, I preferred S.1 than S.2 back in those days when I were attempting to spade both, I preferred S.1 because of nothing but ‘not seeing these shameless F-5C/F-8E bastards crawled at 10.3BR’
If I need to ace one of them now, I’d rather play S.2 though.
