BTR-82 should 100% not be able to control its ATGM without the actual gunners sight being avaliable

because how in the ever living HELL are we supposed to counter THAT?

HE’S SHOOTING MISSILES DIRECTLY INTO OUR SPAWN.

Im not sure exactly how the guidance works.

As for the counter ^

Just shoot the launcher and byebye for BTR:

And most missilelaunchers can actually be abused by shooting missile, and swapping to binoculars and use it aiming it on target. :D

That’s indeed a issue. In reality the 9M133 launcher in the BTR-82AT has its own independent sight to control the missile which is right below the tube where the missile houses.

It’s annoying but I personally don’t think that removing these unique capabilities of vehicles is in favour to creating a realistic game, for example the TCM AGS—you can shoot behind cover unharmed because cannon and sniper sight is in the same place, unlike the real gunner sight which would be obstructed by whatever cover you might be using.

Ah yes, the tiny Launcher, nearly a km away… barely over the top of a wall… Great idea.

Yeah that’s just with a few exceptions Gaijin doesn’t give external weapons the crew they need to operate. Many ATGMs and also most external machine guns just shouldn’t be functional how they are in-game.
Another really problematic example is the Warrior

sure wish the rocket sight of the milan launchers would work without line of sight on the main gun (warrior, marder, begleitpanzer, ratel) they all require it which is why you never see those doing this.

the swingfire with its telescope optics is also really good at this (but in nothing else)

as for counterplay you can machine gun the rockets out of the air until he runs out or fire he shells at the launcher itself which might be near impossible if the guy moves around between shots

the warriors rockets actually require your main gun or at the very least commanders optics line of sight ortherwise the rockets will lose tracking and eat dirt as do all other milan carriers

No, you just need line of sight from your camera to the missile, just like on the BTR-AT (see Abram’s posts above)

is the video not good enough for you?

heres some pictures to go along with it the same goes for all the milan carrier vehicles that have a main gun

Keep in mind, i play at 1440p on a 32in display, and i couldn’t even see the launcher.

It would be interesting if it was commander operated and had a modeled crew member. It would probably have to go down in br. Gaijin would never do it anyway

Doesn’t work that often for me. Usually loses track since it says “line of sight lost” or something like that. probably only works on some missiles i assume?

just remember to keep your left mouse pressed contious.
If you release firing button , it starts going “rogue” but when using binoculars, keep it pressed, and it will follow binos :D

well you asked how to deal with it.
That is how you deal with any of those launchers showing over rock, wall, etc etc.

And be happy that BTR is one of those what can be killed by shooting loaded launcher. There’s plenty of rocket carriers what only goes red when firing them, instead exploding those missiles.

That is the actual sight for the ATGM though, it should be the only way to fire it, although with infantry coming they should model someone getting out and standing on the roof to use it.

For a beam riding missiles there is a tracker unit in the rear of the missile that tries to keep the emitter on the launcher centered in its FOV, so I assume it loses sight of the emitter when it dips below the tent.
