BTR-3E1: Eight Wheels of Fury

@YontzeeUA @ARC_Convoy_77
While the bug reports are pending review, I decided to conduct a little research in War Thunder, as the BTR-3E1 has appeared in the game with its ZTM-1 (essentially a Ukrainian 2A72) featuring a metal truss frame around the barrel to improve accuracy and reduce vibrations: can you guess from what distance this group was achieved based on 50 continuous rounds using a standard belt (AP-HE-AP-HE), and can you tell which vehicle is shown in which screenshot — the BTR-82AT without the truss frame or the BTR-3E1 with the ZTM-1 and the frame? 👀

I am assuming BTR 3 is worse?

After what happened with the oplot, i think we both know the answer

After conducting several accuracy tests at a 1000-meter range (continuous 50-round bursts to achieve maximum spread), I can say that I’m 99% sure they share the same accuracy pattern in the game.

This raises a question: is it a case of reduced recoil and spread during long bursts for the 2A72 (despite lacking the truss frame) relative to the other gun, or is it decreased accuracy for the ZTM-1 (despite having the frame) compared to the first one?

Its the same case where Puma and BMPT got the same accuracy value. Selective realism

Thailand has some domestic armored Cars hopefully we can get one with a ATGM but that’s about it.

There’s a few domestic options still:

This is only Thai domestic vehicles, there a more that are modifications of other vehicles, for example a Thai FV101 with new thermal sight, new engine and ERA, and vehicles that aren’t operated by other nations in game like the BTR-3E1/RK.

Ya also the DTI D-Iron RCV with 30mm RWS no offence its a ground drone not a IFV. But thanks. The drone will go in my infantry robots section for future use in a post. Also not domestic its an import.

Yeah it’s a remote controlled vehicle. I can see it maybe being added in the infantry mode in the future since there is already different drone types there.

I included it here anyways because the 30mm cannon could also be effective in ground battles, but thinking about it this might be difficult because there would be no way to model the operator so it would be impossible to kill the crew, but also very bad to play without crew to repair it. It’s still an interesting Thai vehicle so I’ll keep it here, but not really for ground battles.

Yeah it’s only made in license, I missed that earlier.

I made a infantry discussion post around robots. There are surprising lots and I mean lots of options in game. (Japan is the exception for this it seems) Some are like Cars and others are the robot dogs or RC cars with some C4 on it. They all could have a home in game.

Question. Does the current dev server nerf to Soviet 30mm auto cannons also apply to BTR-3?

The datamine does not mention it but I saw a yt video saying it applies to it as well.

If it doesn’t then the BTR-3’s gun frame making it more accurate would make sense.

Because it wasn’t changed.

Zenturion’s video is wrong.

It was not his but fair xd

Did they seriously remove its thermals 💀

Instead of fixing the BTR-3E1 and giving it it’s stabilizer and ability to fire on the move with ATGMs
You delete thermals for the vehicle and nerf it further
Surprising that the cannon nerf did not affect it.

Wonder if they’ll address the BTR-3E1’s list of issues that already have accepted bug reports.

Spoiler

Though, considering they haven’t been able to fix the missing 360-degree rotation for the 12.7mm machine gun on the BM «Oplot-T/M» for over 9 months now… It’s best not to get our hopes up.

They fixed a couple things no? Like added commander override and correct gun angles. Main one missing is still ATGM fire on the move

I don’t have the opportunity to log into the DEV server. Has any of this been fixed properly?

This is the datamine.

Btw since you’re knowledgeable on it, does the BTR have thermals? I’ve read some people say it’s an SWIR.

If they fixed the missing commander control of the combat module when the gunner is knocked out, that’s good.

The -4/+60 elevation angles come from this report for the BTR-3E with the KBA-105 «Shkval» module, but the one we have in-game is the BTR-3E1 with a different combat module, which according to the patent should have -5/+45.

It is likely that the configuration of the BTR-3E1s delivered to Thailand only included OEM-V sights, which do not have a thermal imaging channel.
