British Weapon Systems - Technical data and discussion

trust me when you only have dumb bombs and have to be very picky with targets to not get shafted by the death bubble SPAA you can run out easy.

once i have IR PGMs, ALARM and brimstone less so. but for now its very possible

Oh yeah in that case for sure. I barely play with the GR1 outside of GRB, and even then that’s rare. Probably would start using it more if we had mmW brimstones (gotta get the mentions up so when Gaijin search the forums the number is higher ofc)

for the sake of not destroying the game. Mode 2 brimstone i thinks the best comprimise, tell it where to go with IOG and then let it fine tune adjust with mmW. like if JSOW could track a target

I don’t know the modes well enough to comment on that side of things but given that’d work with TWS GMTI and just slewing the TGP, I doubt I’d use them any other way personally

With CBUs being gamemode restricted, it opens up the option of mode 3 just being gamemode restricted

Mode 1: What we have in-game now
Mode 2: Point your laser at a target, and when it gets close its switches over to MMW, IOG can also keep it going to a small area if you need to break off before its gone active
Mode 3: Lob it at an area without ever entering LoS of the target, the Brimstones talk to each other to find targets and then all go for one each. Its the convoy killer and what they were originally designed to do

If Gaijin are giving us CBU103/105 (can’t remember which is which) this update I doubt it’ll be particualrly long until we see mode 3, then. Especially given the strike eagle could do with being knocked off the plinth of NE’s golden child imo

Redfor could do with some better muns too but unsure what’s available for them wrt mmw

The new Japanese bomb also sounds a lot like Mode 3. Lob it at a target and it finds a target.

Think it’s just for ships given they said large targets. Would make sense given how potent Japan is for anti ship work at the moment.

We’ll see, but even then, basically the same code. The seeker has to search and find the target after launch, on its own. So probably a beta test either way

We’ll see indeed. I’m skeptical they’re going to add it until redfor have anything comparable. Don’t know enough about russian/chinese muns to know if they even do.

Tbh, I think Mode 2 Brimstone 2s are still weaker than KH-38MT if quantity was the same. M2 Brimstone 2s only pull ahead because of the quantity you can carry and not the the individiaul performance. Balance that via proper use of SP, and that goes away.

KH-38MT are:

  • Faster
  • Have a bigger warhead
  • IOG still allows for kills through smoke, and smoke would still block the laser until it went active
  • Can be fired at multiple targets at once, Mode 2s would be limited to one at a time.

Or just look at the NE stats for each mode before committing to introducing them to GRB if at all. I personally would like for FnF munitions to be banned outright in GRB, but we can’t have everything.

Strike eagle is in its rightful place as the highest payload strike aircraft in top tier.

It’s competing against EF2Ks that are missing their main AGM’s main guidance type. Hardly a fair competition.

GBU-53 has MMW too. Brimstone not the only fixed wing MMW weapon, and they get SPICE 250’s anyways

Those are unpowered munitions, not AGMs. Try F-15E without any sort of AGM-65s against convoys and see how you fare lol

Except didn’t you know these aren’t actually correct and actually brimstone would be overly effective compared and introduce friendly fire. At least according to the spitting they gave me when I highlighted the comparable efficacy.

TV/IR missiles don’t have working IOG, They will lock surface in front of smoke
