I think I’ve got more kills against Pantsir SM-SVs and S1s than any other other SAM (with ALARM)…
I think you’re understanding just how far away and how high you need to be lobbing these. Lobbing 4 or 5 as soon as you spawn, one night get through, but if you hit the deck, fly away and fire from well behind your own air spawn, you’ll often get away with firing 2. Granted, it then takes a full 5 minutes for the missiles to land, but if you spend that time popping up into radar view and taunting the SAMs, you’ll just be improving the likelihood of the ALARMs arriving.
As with anything British in WT, the skill floor is very high.
I like ALARM and not because its good but because it distracts sams. Even at closer ranges they have to shoot them down allowing you to live or attack from a different angle.
Again, just because you can kill some bad players in the SM-SV does not change anything.
You can kill top tier tanks with a BT-5, does not mean that the BT-5 is good at killing top tier tanks.
If someone in an SM-SV is watching their radar screen and paying attention you will never get close to killing them with an ALARM regardless of how many you fire off and regardless of alt/distance.
Not disagreeing - Pantsir is ridiculous and OP (especially given it is given out for free).
Just saying that if ALARM is used right, it’s almost a guaranteed kill on a Pantsir (with all the usual “they don’t find a hill”, “they don’t turn their radar off and move” caveats that apply to arms)
Gaijin fixed the crappy 250lb GP model on the Firefly
At the same time, they also added 250lb GP bombs to the Firecrest! But did it by adding the very same version of the bomb that was bugged on the Fireflies…
Also pretty sure Firecrest and Firebrand should be using the WW2 style drum-tailed 500lb MC bombs on the Firefly, not the conical tailed ones that seemingly use the model for the modern-ish 540lb GP
The 500lb M.C Mk II is actually a 540lb M.C model with a fake texture on it. A bug report is already made to change it from that to the real Mk II (Well it’s actually a Mk VII but eh)
It hasn’t happened to me yet, but I noticed they fixed the bug involving missiles. It finally works! Now let’s hope for improvements to protection, internal modeling, and “sparking” issues.
