BMP-2M, 2S38 and now 2 BMPTs. History repeating its self

Atleast 2S38 is easy to kill, while BMPT just absorbs everything

2S38 players got consequences for just driving into the open… same can’t be said here.

Yep, had a BMPT come round the corner, I fired as rapidly as I could, Non-pen. I was dead 2 seconds later from auto-canon fire.

If that had been a 2S38, as BS as that IFV is, it would have at least taken damage, if not died from a shot like that.

my first encounter with one properly

sure i may have taken a bit to aim toward the bottom side, but even from the rear/side this thing is hard to put down

nearly took a whole ZA-35 belt to kill

Yeah, exactly, and you nearly died.

tbf probably not made quicker by me taking the 50/50 AP/HE belts

(the rentable tanks reset your ammo for your researched vehicles, as they’re stock thats always the stock ammo)

Report to get the AJAX’s sight zooms changed

Currently it uses the day channel at a fixed 6x, this would give it 4x - 12x zoom from the thermal imager

oh good lord you’re gonna get it nerfed to 1-3x

if they exclude electronic zoom then I guess we’d just stay with the 6x lol

Do we know how many degrees vertical FOV the game uses as a base value for calculating 1x magnification?
The Ajax has “zoomInFov”: 12.3, “zoomOutFov”: 12.3, . So if that’s nominally fixed 6x, I’d infer 1x would be an FOV value ~74. But I’m not sure if the numbers are directly representative of degrees.
If it is degrees, that would sort of imply Ajax’s thermals are optically equivalent to 6-18x magnification in the game

Does Gaijin use vertical or horizontal FoV for the formula?

We do exclude electronic zoom.

Almost all games use vertical FOV for those values because horizontal FOV is subject to variation in the aspect ratio of different player’s monitor setups

Ok, thanks.
So 6x-18x for Variant 1, and 8x-26x for Variant 2 of MP LW
And 7x-32x for MP MW

whats MP MW the commanders sight?

Different TI. It can be either LW

or MW

Alright, thanks for letting me know, thats unfortunate

It seems that MW was chosen in the 3.5/10.5 congif for “future vehicle programmes”

that gives us 7-21x zoom, or rather 8-26x, based on the fact 10.5 and 3.5 are horizontal.
