Nah defo upgrading from SAL Brimstone 1s to SAL Brimstone 2s (actually, that would probably be a good a change)
Thats actually not a bad point. Why did they go with Brimstone 1s knowing it would be limited to purely SAL and thus rather limited in effectiveness. The Upgraded motor would be a big boost
Considering that the working time of the missile guide head is 60 seconds, I don’t think it has reached the claimed distance of 20Km.
(Of course, this refers to the game)
Gunjob is working on that already. iirc. the argument is that hte only upgrade from the Brimstone 1 to Brimsatone 2 was the motor. If the Brimstone 2 has a reported range of up to 40km. Then the Brimstone 1s should have no issue hitting a target at 20km and the 60s guidance time is likely wrong.
But even still. Tpod limitaitons mean a max range of usually about 20km anyway.
Now the problem is that Brimstone2 in the game is not Brimstone1, because Smin mentioned that Brimstone1 only has millimetre-wave radar guidance mode, so it cannot only keep the SAL mode to add it to the game.
Phimat was introduced by the French during 1978. Not sure exactly when we got it, but probably no earlier than 1979.
I think all but a handful of GR.1s had been converted to GR.3 by 1977 and those that remained weren’t in front-line service - instead being used for things like development of Sea Harrier
