USA tech tree f/18a has modification (hidden, by the way) AN/AAS-38 which actually IR targeting pod.
British one dont have such modification and no hidden availability to set it.

Imagine the ‘should’ and ‘had’ on the dev server they’re no longer there, so you can submit a bug report.
A competant S1 player will just shoot all 4 down, as they can target 4 things at once. You need 5+ weapons to overwhelm an S1.
I genuinely do not understand why either A) the S1 isnt a higher BR or B) Why something like the F-18A with no guided weapons except 4x ARM or 2x AGM-62 is 12.3. The Tonka Ret8 with waaaaaaay better A2G (including 4x AGM-88A) is 12.0

It really is not needed on that plane at all.
Only thing what could benefit is walleyes, and even seeing your target trough pod, doesnt effect lock range on walleyes either.
You can spot helos using TWS without issues, and ARM seeker gives more sitational awarness from enemy AA , vs targeting pod ever
True, but gotta remember there is lot of bot pantsirs also nowdays, since those are free, and not all CAS players rush straight from spawn and spam ARM’s on way.
But still… The SPAA vs CAS balance genuinely doesnt make any sense anymore, nor do any of their previous excuses about what A2G certain planes can get.
I see your point, at the same time shooting down well famous missiles heli carriers maybe the most help to team. Even more than CAS and will be even more valuable when heli MITL will be added with new major update. And thernal pod great thing to locate sneaky b…boys.
