Right - I don’t get that they are “Safe” - just that they do not explode - they burn.
That burning is not “safe” for any common meaning of the word!! But it gives time for the crew to survive.

Burning or exploding is really not relevant for the game, it works in tanks with blowout panels because the fire is vented out of the crew compartment - this is not the case with the chief/challenger charges. If your ammo is struck, it will burn and you are dead.
I don’t know how some people can come with such ridiculous conclusions
Lets look at what the Castlemartin range incident panel wrote about the propellent charges used by CR2
Castle Martin incident didnt have the bag in the bin. It was in the breach.
I dont think anyone is hasking for a miracle but if tanks with blowout pannels can run around with the back of the turret melting why cant the challenger get a shot in before full detonation?
Castle martin incident is barely relevant to war thunder. The ammo was ignited by the electric primer not a hot stray fragment of metal hitting it. Not to mention there weren’t any sympathetic “burns” just the one in the breach.
In fact I’d say this goes against the point you were making about their survivability. The ammo bins or the charges themselves were able to withstand the heat of the hot gasses at 3000 degrees.
Good job you didn’t read incident report.
The specific part of the report talks about the rounds that were ignited in the crew compartment, not the round in the breach which failed containment
That’s not what it says at all…
lol… some ppl
I will concede my point on the sympathetic “burns”. Apparently 4 of the charges were laying on the floor exposed during the incident never to be found.
The bins will protect against fire, as the incident shows - but if the bins themselves are shot and compromised that doesn’t matter, which would be the case in game when you get shot in the charges.
This is in no way comparable to tanks with ammo stowed in blow outs (which also don’t work in game if the bulkhead is compromised and NATO 120 similarly burns owing to the combustible cases), as when they are functioning no fire is effecting the crew. If a Challenger tank gets struck in the ammo and the charge bin starts violently cooking off the crew isn’t going to get an extra shot off, that’s silly and not good gameplay.
neither are the blowout ones. or do you think the blast doors will hold forever? its enough to give time to exit the tank. just like the charge bins.
…Yes? Do you not understand how they are designed to function? You definitely do not exit the tank while the ammunition is cooking off inside the blow-out compartment as that would be highly dangerous. NATO 120 combustible cases similar to bagged charges will burn (violently) but not outright explode unless under pressure (like inside a breech or main tank compartment). The blowout compartment allows the ammunition to vent all the gases and fire out the blowout panel.
I really wish Gaijin acknowledge if they read these sp that way we know if they are just ignoring us and intentionally keep britain as a bad country. Swear half of these dont get read or cared about by devs.
There’s a lot wrong with the game that doesn’t make senes but it gets ignored or has no priority to be changed.
Its the most annoying thing. Its like they dont care.
They probably dont. Popularity = priority. Fixing a barely played nation like Britain is far far less important than making sure Germany, Sweden, US or Soviet TTs are as strong as possible.
