- Yes, I want to fuel RRD more with EAP spam!
- No, I am normal!
G’day lads. I want to suggest that one aircraft every Brit main can’t keep their mouth away from in RRD, mainly to get a reaction from Smin, all of which comes from the totally working and totally fully weapon capable EAP aircraft!
Description:
Spoiler
The British Aerospace Experimental Aircraft Programme (EAP) was developed in the 1980s as an advanced test platform for future fighter jet technologies. This aircraft paved the way for the Eurofighter Typhoon by introducing groundbreaking features like a sleek delta-wing shape paired with forward canards, which enhanced its maneuverability and aerodynamic performance. It was powered by two Turbo-Union RB199 engines, known for their impressive thrust capabilities, and constructed using lightweight carbon-fiber composites to optimize its performance. The EAP also incorporated cutting-edge systems like fly-by-wire controls, which provided exceptional handling precision, just don’t ask if it could use it’s weapons.
History:
Spoiler
The British Aerospace Experimental Aircraft Programme has its roots in the late 1970s and early 1980s, when the concept of a new-generation European fighter began to take shape. During this period, the United Kingdom, Germany, and Italy were exploring the possibility of a collaborative aircraft development program. As part of this effort, the Agile Combat Aircraft (ACA) study was initiated, laying the groundwork for what would become the EAP.
British Aerospace took the lead on the EAP project, supported by contributions from Messerschmitt-Bölkow-Blohm (MBB) in Germany and Aeritalia in Italy. The project’s purpose was to test and evaluate innovative technologies that could be used in the design of future fighter aircraft. The UK government, along with industry partners, provided funding for the program.
Construction of the sole EAP prototype, registered as ZF534, began in the mid-1980s. The aircraft was rolled out at British Aerospace’s Warton facility in April 1986. Its first flight took place on August 8, 1986, with Dave Eagles, a test pilot for British Aerospace, at the controls, where it’s capabilities were demonstrated.
Throughout its testing, the EAP explored various advanced features and performance metrics, providing crucial data and insights for future designs. The flight test campaign ran until the early 1990s, during which time the aircraft completed hundreds of sorties and achieved remarkable speeds and maneuvers. The data collected from these flights directly influenced the development of the Eurofighter Typhoon, which became one of Europe’s most successful multirole fighter jets.
By 1991, the EAP project concluded, and the prototype was retired. Now it just exists to annoy an individual named “Smin War Thunder”, mostly done by the British playerbase, possibly done as a secret way to torture him to extract more information to get update info.
I am currently taken hostage by the British playerbase, send help
Armaments:
Spoiler
Features an imaginary BK27 30mm revolver cannon
Skyflash AAM
ASRAAM
Could it actually guide or use those weapons? Yes it can! The EAP uses an experimental system where it powers up the weapon wirings, thus being capable of using those weapons every time it gets mentioned in the damn RRD thread! This gives the EAP sentience, where it then powers itself up due to sheer annoyance!
Specifications:
Spoiler
The British Aerospace Experimental Aircraft Programme (EAP) measured 14.7 meters in length, with a wingspan of 11.76 meters and a height of 5.525 meters. It had an empty weight of 10,002 kilograms and a maximum takeoff weight of 14,515 kilograms. It’s powered by two Turbo-Union RB199 engines, giving out 40kN dry and 76kN wet, aka with afterburner.
