Britain SPAA Voids - what could be added?

Hasn’t M6A2E1 (quite finished prototype) got armor plate for hull that was only a proposal? Or Obj.292 that as far known never had an autoloader? Or Sidam 25 with mistral that exist only as photoshop and other questionable Italian cars? (But probably these less suitable for “finished prototypes” definition).

It does seem rather arbitrary, but I guess that’s the point.

When is a prototype “finished”? After design is complete? After one is built? After the first serial production is finished? After acceptance trials?

Stuff like the 2s38. It’s not in service, so is it still a prototype?

292 had an autoloader.

@SwingfireOP
2S38 is in serialized production and has been for years.

Source?

It’s only had multiple prototypes made which have only been shown off at military parades afaik. Similar to the T-14, if the 2S38 had been in mass production we would have surely seen it in a particular war, no doubt there are only 10 that just get repainted as they go back around red square…

Reasoning being, if they are supposedly more produce than the BMP-T why are they in service rather than a vital SPAA.

A large scale order hasn’t occurred. They’re still fully finished and haven’t been a prototype in well over half a decade.
Not having current mass-production asking clients [especially due to not enough funding] doesn’t mean it’s still a prototype.

Yeah makes sense, I suppose it depends what you class prototypes as, I would say it is a prototype since a design for it has not been accepted in regular service, its a similar case to Ajax, there are a lot of them, a lot of plans for them, a lot of trials for them but its not in active service so I would say a prototype, just a nearly finished one

So then they are pre-production pilot vehicles.

Hold up, isn’t that a crotale system?

Im bringing dead back to life.
ZA-HVM suggestion is made. Now im waiting

Did you find something about the turret/missiles?

The HVM would be fantastic.

Ofc.
Turret is the same as in ZA-35, but it has everything aroudn the guns removed, so it is much lighter.
Radar has increased range to 25km.
When it comes to missiles they existed and were fired, but were not fitted, as they were about to be done so but the program got cancelled. Same as Combined tracked. It was made but was not installed, later it made its way onto G6.

I read about that somewhere
Ah yea
LBAD 92-93 and 93-94

So its like a laser guided Rapier?

In which case i assume standard rapier is SACLOS.

Yes, it it RF SACLOS guided. It gives commands to the missile using the parabolic antenne

yeah optically guided the same way as a lot of the british short range SAM systems are

Nice, on a truck though as you’ve found would be the perfect rapier solution

Wasn’t there some sort of issue with that one?

I don’t know SPAA are far from my area of expertise.
