I think (and I could be wrong on this) there wasnt the same kind of neccesity. Where a ship like the Scharnhorst was probably not deploying with many other ships. (in her final battle in the North Sea, she was alone) and so having Torps was a big advantage. British BBs were almost always deployed with Cruisers and weather permitting, Destroyers that were armed with Torps. Just wasnt the same need to have Torps on the BB, which were less effective
Torpedo’s weren’t used properly in British doctrine, they existed as a last ditch effort to take the enemy down with you. Japan and Germany used them as an offensive weapon, Britain used them when they absolutely had to and the US eventually just got rid of them with the Iowa Class.
Also Britain didn’t really put emphasis into cruisers. The Washington naval treaty limited them to 10,000 tonnes and the UK decided you couldn’t properly build a cruiser with only 10,000 tonnes, Germany’s Admiral Hipper is ~14,000 because they broke the treaty.
The UK decided anything you couldn’t kill with a destroyer, could be killed by a Battleship or Battlecruiser instead.
I know the concept of Kantai Kessen so i know why Japan put so much funding and emphasis onto torpedoeos because they were outnumbered and it was one of their aces, im asking simply because torpedoes are fun lol
I actually played a match in a Sub today… will admit, that was fun, I hope we get Subs to NRB
But its a real shame as well that we got the HMS Belfast post ww2 refit that doesnt have torps
yeah but i would prefer faster subs, the one we have in the event is very slow and the torps are extremely short range and mediocre speed, also adding subs could actually make destroyers and coastal ships have an actual purpose at BB tiers, so i am all for adding subs
I think they will give it a boost in popularity that will give us some more new additions.
Yeah, it was fun and would add real value to the “sub chasers” we have just semi-idle in the coastal trees
Yeah, it really would
Sub chaser? You mean destroyer food
Yeah… luckily I havent bothered to heavily with coastal yet :P
I just use them to cap points at the start. Only if I feel like it lol
Yeah, I made a start on Coastal for that exact strategy, but that grind is not fun
İf they actually make a mode where coastal only fights coastal it could be fun , they need to give it the SL modifiers of Bluewater as well , the coastal tree is dead otherwise.
You can still take your coastal to your Bluewater lineup of course
Yeah, still having low level destroyers in coastal never made sense to me. Even Frigates could maybe do with moving trees
I still do not understand why they separated the ship trees , it is impossible to research coastal unless you are a masochistic person
Gaijin already said if the balance demands it naval will allow completed designs.
I get it, 2 very different playstyles, but they need to add a Heli style RP system. So if you max out on Coastal, you can transfer RP to bluewater and vice versa
No one will use coastal to research Bluewater 😂😂, only the opposite will happen
I thought they said laid designs?
If they will allow completed designs that weren’t laid down then i’m about to have a field day re-designing Britain’s heavy cruiser tree with the ‘Admiral’ and ‘Minotaur’ class heavy cruisers.
Even if 99.99% of players do it that way, round, still should be added for that 0.01%
