Tbf that was a as lucky hit as Bismarcks on hood
It dove through the water and passed under the belt
But DOY absolutely trashed Scharnhorst

Meanwhile British Artillery in game:
I see you have 500mm of pen, and hit a 250mm plate, too bad, shatter.
It would be a decent foil against Scharnhorst and at least makes sense as 7.3: FAT armor and worthless guns due to shells being worse than most 6.7s.
If it absolutely has to be 7.7, at least give it shells worth a damn so it can actually do something to same tier ships.
I have yet to test this but I don’t think DOY could pen Scharnhorst ingame
You can, fighting Scharnhorst is actually quite a good matchup in POW
Your armour works quite well against it and you have enough pen to make it through the barbettes and detonate it via the fires
That is genuinely the experience of playing Barham at her current BR.
Its just “Oh look, shatters”
i’ve resorted to trying to get bellow waterline Magazine hits to try and spade my barham.
Surprisingly effective BTW, American Dreadnoughts don’t take underwater 15in AP hits very well.
There is no underwater penetrations in game. Is something changed or wrong with naval and underwater shells? - #7 by Kweedko
That’s legit just wrong, I’ve legit watched my shells drop into the water, Skim under the Armored belts of American BB’s, and pop their ammo.
Probably desync or you missed that shell what hit the barbet or ammo, American standards is piñatas in terms of shells protection, their propellant charges storage is above shells, so one hit there and you out. If to be correct they are, but they do no damage for more that a year now, probably two.
100% desync.
You’re probably sneaking over armor belt and into the upper magazine.
thats also the experience of playing HMS invincible if you face anything that isn’t American.
British or German Battleships, or even Battlecruisers are SUCH A PAIN
Is this S.W.L means ‘Summer Water Line’ that I’ve known?
If it is, then there’s no hope for Lion class…
She’s sitting like she has no fuel, ammo, or anything on board.
I get it, the British designed some of their ships to ride High, the Nelsons and the county class cruisers especially, but that was for a reason.
TO FIT MORE ARMOR, Both the Nelsons and County’s both were designed to have a Bunch of extra above water height so if war broke out, and the treaties disolved, they could fit them with alot of extra armor. (Granted the only County Class that ever happened to was HMS London, and it nearly broke her in half due to shoddy construction, but HEY!)
How is it that both Warthunder, and World of Warships do this same exact thing, of having British Ships ride way too high in the water.
EDIT:
Do note, that their height in a match and height in the hanger are different. Always check in-test drive, not in the hanger.
Oh so Lion is sitting there in the port with her rudder out the water? because thats what it looks like compared to vanguard.
For Lion, it was same unlike POW or Vanguard
Might get lowered on live, but yeah, a lot of ships look werid in port
We can only hope
