wing loading is lower on Eurofighter.
dry EF is ~214 and Gripen ~270 or so
and EF is more of a rate fighter actually
I believe its actually kinda the opposite, but also heavily dependant on speed.
Gripen and Rafale both have close-coupled canards, this gives them higher instantaneous turn primarily at subsonic speeds (13.5 degrees IIRC), so they will first circle a eurofighter (13.2) below somewhere around 1000km/h (guesstimate).
However the Eurofighter has long arm canards which gain effectiveness at high speed in the high subsonic and above range. Then there’s the Eurofighter simply having a ridiculous amount of thrust.
As for sustained turn rate i’ve found sources saying it rates better than the F-18 and some others but nothing with comparison to the F-16 which is supposedly king, however part of the reason eurocanards are presumed not to rate well is that people assume that the delta shears off speed which it does, but the entire point of the canards is airfrom optimisation to improve lift and therefore turn, in addition, they have some of the higher thrust to weight ratio’s around.
Gripen will probably win in the one circle, but after that it should lose because on paper, everything the gripen does the eurofighter does better.
Early EF’s had the best m-scan radar ever put into service, apparently it compares favourably with PESA radars like the RBE2 and the one the SU-27’s were using.
I believe they entered service with AMRAAM C-5, tranche 1 eurofighters cant use meteor though, and were limited to just a2a in the first block.
Edit: Tranche 2 block 15 eurofighters CAN use Meteor. but the earliest variants didn’t have it.
so a2a with aim120c and ASRAAM
What’s the Gripen thrust on dev I’m seeing people say it’s has way more thrust than it should have
Yes,
But I fucked this up my blocks are confused give me a second to fix it
they still do have the best m-scan. probably because no one put new m-scans into service but the -C was upgraded to the -D/-M
T1s dont get Meteor because they use an older, shittier computer standard which cant support Meteor.
Block 5 got air to ground capabilities
i think its correct people are just reading the thrust wrong
That makes sense, although I wonder if they will actually go through with BAE’s suggestion to upgrade the Typhoons to Tranche 3A standard considering the airframes have 20 years left. Can you imagine, less than 100 fighters again…
German T2 and T3As are getting the E
but like Britain didnt even order T4s
I need someone to send pic of its thrust on dev
i can send the stat card
I need x-ray of engine
Perhaps I wasn’t clear. I meant that BAE had suggested they could upgrade the UK’s Tranche 1 aircraft to Tranche 3A standard including the IRST, ECRS MK.2 and Meteor integration as they have 20 years left of airframe life (eg. they had only used half).
It is also kinda weird how we didn’t order the T4 but I suppose that was the sacrifice for 24 F-35’s.
The C might be different when it comes
wooooo South Africa BIAS
We will see next week then i will be able to fly it
That gives is a positive thrust to weight ratio clean in burner…
Wait, I think this Gripen lower than 1 T/W is a myth because the manufacturer says that it is 14,200 lbs clean and the engine produces 18,100 lbs of force…
On the wiki there is a claim of 0.97 but no source and no configuration (clean or interceptor).
That’s stock need spaded to see full thrust
