Whilst that is true, the other side of the coin is that much slower aircraft, especially those that take a while to build up speed, are better balanced vs those that spawn really fast. Been playing a lot of Jaguar GR1 the last few days and its night and day when you get an AF spawn and being miles behind a chunk of your team and airspawn and keeping pace with them. Same experience in something like the Tornado too.
So its tricky, because some yes, Airspawn mitigates the advantage given to some aircraft that already had airspawn, or those that have very good acceleration and short take-offs like the Harriers (or anything with RATOs). But Airspawn also mitigates the opposite.
So its not necessarily entirely clear cut.
I dont really have much of a stance either way, though they did say they were going to add a forward AF spawn for slower aircraft and then never did and whilst everyone getting airspawn doesnt help all, it does help some.
Exactly, like for example the f14 it just got a lot easier for it to lunch
And with f14d getting added, ppl are gonna spam it so much
They should bring back the ground spawn
I just recently got the f14a and I had matches where the distance between enemies spawn and my teams spawn was around 60km or so
So I just climbed for like 15 seconds and just launched my aim54s to them 20 seconds after I spawned
Im largely indifferent.
If I want AF spawn, then I also dont want markers, or third person view, etc etc and so I play Air Sim.
Airspawn does have some advantages, like it does spread the fight over a wider area. I think the single spawn is actually quite boring from the standpoint of how a match develops. Typhoon last year with AF spawn vs Typhoon this year with air spawn plays very very differently and the matches feel a little less cramped because more of the map is being used. You also get a larger separation and so some more ‘interesting’ long ranged BVR.
But it does also have some disadvantages, like making ARB even more Arcadey that it already does, and does mitigate the advantage short take off aircraft and/or good climbing aircraft would normally have.
So, Im neither for nor really against. I dont think its necessary at all below 8.0/9.0 (especially below rank 6 where air spawn is a given buff for some aircraft) at the bare minimum, if not maybe more like 11.0/12.0. Though I have been liking it in the Jaguar GR1 because I dont feel quite as disadvantage in air spawn than I do in AF spawn.
Largely my opinion is this though for Rank 7 and up.
Air Spawn over single AF spawn
Multi-AF spawn over Air spawn.
If they add 2-3 AFs across the breadth of the map and then split the team evenly among them, So you had 6-8 player per. Then I would take that over air spawn at most BRs. At very top tier, I think Air spawn does still maintain some advantages over that and most aircraft dont really give much of a crap about having to climb, so it does feel like dead time to me. Maybe if/when they add bigger maps top tier should get AF spawns again
See, Im actually of the opposite mind.
AF spawn from one point, creates the ideal kill box for the F-14 to just spam and a lot will be slower and lower and thus harder to defend.
F-14 always took off fast and climbed well, meaning it could always do the same tactic even with AF spawn (and now we have carriers back too on some maps, giving them an even faster take-off)
With air spawn everyone is more spread out and has more energy, making it harder for that tactic to be effective. imo, the only real reason why that kind of Fox-3 spam ever worked was because everyone was flying down a very narrow corridor created by everyone taking off from 1 point.
Yeah you are right too
Best solution is that they should add 2-3 airfields with ground spawn

tbh i agree with bringing back forced ground spawn, i’m tired of plying stuff like strike aircraft or heavy fighters that basicaly have their only advantage removed bc everyone gets an airspawn

I hate airspawn as much as the next guy, but It genuinely made ARB bettter, especially at toptier.
It reduced the huge furball that always happened in the middle and actually improved the positioning of teams. Not only do people spread out alot more, it gives strike aircraft the speed to flank around the team to reach bases.
Removing it is just going to push people straight to the middle more, regardless of its benefits.
Although i agree, it should partially come back. Taking of was cool, looking at your teammates planes and racing them to see who takes off first was fun.
