Hello dear forum
i got a question about the german tornado ids with brimstone missles bc were did gajin get the info about using this missle. The german goverment just decided last year to buy brimestone till now 1. december 25 we still didnt took delivery of brimstone and i cant finde any source that says that our tornados would get this missle here i got an article talking about the deal and that only eurofighters will get this missle Bundeswehr kauft Lenkflugkörper Brimstone und Stinger
ik that gajin maybe only did that for better gameplay but its just not historically accurat
It comes from a single 2015 brochure where it states Brimstones are (or at least were) planned for the ASSTA4 which became the SLE or something.
The reality is, I doubt that they actually will be added when Brimstone 3s arrive in 2028, given Germany is retiring a lot of Tornados in 2030 and Germany certainly never used Brimstone 1s
So yes, it is a tenative at best additions, likely only added to keep the SLE performing similarly to the GR4 in GRB (Even though Brimstone 1s at the moment are useless on the platform). So unless MMW is planned in the near future and they want to keep both together, it is a very wierd and potentially ahistorical addition. Especially given that “planned weapons” have been denied so far for other aircraft, such as Spear-Glides for the Typhoon as they have yet to be fitted.
Technically “semi-historical” due to the Airbus brochure but never mounted, Germany doesn’t even operate Brimstones 1 to be begin with. I’d much rather have gotten LaGS, which were actually mounted and fired on the Tornado WTD.
Yeah, im not sure on the correlation between the 2 though.
If the ASSTA4 and SLE are 2 entirely different things or the SLE is just an evolution of the ASSTA4. If its the latter than its fine in my books to use ASSTA 4 stuff for the SLE, but it still raises questions about whether Brimstones are even still planned given the age of the document and whether “planned” weapons can be reported for other vehicles, current and future.
nah, brimstone exist(s) and have been fired and so do tornado planes exist and work, putting them together is still slightly less fake than the KH38MT as there’s no evidence that the KH38MT actually was built or fired from any platform…
the KH38 family of missiles exists. IR inertial guidance tech exists.
The two together dont.
German Tornado exists. Brimstone exists.
The two together dont.
the only tonka to ever fire brimstone was british. just as the only eurofighter to actually use the brimstone is british (yes the german one was tested with it but its not formally adopted) Brimstone should not appear in the german tree.
