Brimstone Nerf

With other aircraft in game getting multiple fire and forget TV guided missiles for example Maverick KH29

And them also being significant slower and shorter ranged than the laser guided variants of the above missiles

Also with the Tornado being massively outranged by the GROM and other similar GPS glide bombs and also being outranged and outgunned by the fox 3 carrying vehicles added to the other nations I feel like it is underperforming

I understand that the brimstones shouldn’t be able to self designated targets however if they had a dual mode

TV guided and laser guided seeker that would give the fire and forget capabilities that brimstone is known for whilst still making it not as strong as real life

I believe the Tornado GR4 could also be a good test for 90s Fox 2 Missiles (ASRAAM) similarly how the SU25BM was the first to get IRCCM 80s Fox2 especially if Christmas update plans to add them to a large number of aircraft it would be good to see how they play beforehand

I agree, although i’ve only ever used them from around 10km

Yep

  • Gr4 needs a number of buffs like BOL, Litening III, radar, etc
  • ASRAAM might be too strong at the moment, but defo soon
  • Brimstone need something more, even if that is just 0 drift IOG so they can be used like GPS guided weapons
  • PGMs should be upgraded to IIR variants
  • Storm Shadow for GPS guided weapon?

There is just so much they could give the GR4 instead of mmV seekers for the Brimstones, issue is, theyve given it nothing.

To be honest, I don’t understand why they don’t just cut the Brimstone’s abilities the same as Spike.
Instead of allowing LOAL, they should just require a lock (lobl). The Brimstone’s seeker will surely be able to lock the target from the aircraft. I

yep, this is what everyone wants them to do. But apparnetly it is beyond their abiltiies to add Brimstones with LOBL. It is eitehr laser guided or LOAL and no inbetween. Its kinda insane actually, because they will bodge other things despite never existing but wont even consider this solution.

The excuse they give of it being able to track through smoke and trees doesn’t make sense, either, since the majority of people don’t know that a missile is coming their way, so they don’t think to pop smoke, and most people fire missiles at people who are out in the open rather than those near trees, anyway.

I dont think it is even that. Brimstomes have the LOAL. They can be volley fired at 300ft and they’ll just go find their own target without the GR4 even popping up above the treetops.

But htey could just omit this one ability. Limit it to needing LOBL.

I think the biggest issue with the loal is the combo of poor interference coding and the risk of friendly locks.

The ground clutter in ground doesnt really interfere with radar which would make it much harder to get the lock to drop.

Plus it is very likely that it will end up locking a friendly.

Adding proper interference and adding a way to point to a zone would help. Maybe have it so that you have to select an area and the missile will search only in that area.

Would force the aircraft to expose itself and help limit friendly fire. But i do not know how these missiles fully funtion so im not sure if this is a realistic mechanic.

They dont even need all that. No one is asking for that.

All we want is to FnF like the AGM-65 and KH-38s can and nothing more. Lock on with a tpod and fire. the LOAL stuff would be awesome and hilarious, but too OP for the game right now and we accept that. But the reasoning given by the devs is just insane when you consider this same update adds the SU-34 with 6x KH-38s

I just dont want stuff being added to things that didnt have it. If it didnt have IR lock, i dont want it to have IR lock. If it had the ability to lock a target prior to launch, then its all good on my end.

That is the annoying thing with missiles rn. They would rather give them fake systems than wait until the game is ready for it.

I know, but that’s the reason they gave for not adding it with FnF guidance.

They are so modern, its mostly classified, but they probably did, at least to some degree.

edit: going by this doc

It would be mode 2, currently we are limited to mode 1 and mode 3 would be WAY too OP. Just need to nerf them to not track through smoke and they are no more or less powerful than any other AGM

Alternatively, they could use the handy dandy code already in game, and just make it a spike ripoff.

Yes its not historically correct (and feel free to correct me on this next part), but it would also make the brimstones far better and closer to what they should be while retaining some balance, also making the Brit mains a good bit happier
