According to my information, the following applies to the Brimestone in laser guided mode.
If the Brimstone missile is used in laser-guided mode and the laser is turned off, the outcome depends on the specific configuration and the timing of the shutdown:
Before Target Acquisition (Lock-On Before Launch, LOBL)
If the laser is turned off before the missile has locked onto the target, the missile will fly blindly since it has no valid target.
During Flight (Lock-On After Launch, LOAL)
If the laser is turned off mid-flight, the missile will attempt to reach the last known laser designation.
If the target has moved, the missile may miss.
During Terminal Approach (Final Attack Phase)
If the missile is already in its final approach, it may still track the last laser reflections.
Depending on its software logic, it could either try to hit the last known position or self-destruct.
Point 2 is definitely not implemented in the game. If I turn off the laser, the rocket no longer flies to the last marked laser point, but flies ballistically and usually falls to the ground well before the target.
Also love how they just said that it’s not a big report and closed it. It’s reporting a missing key feature, where else should I put it? Create a forum thread? Not a single Gaijin employee ever saw a single Forum thread.
But we already do have airborne radars that can detect only moving ground vehicles in the game. Just give the seeker some basic function like ‘‘if the target’s speed is 30 km/h or more, can see it’’.
Honestly the best SEAD loadout would be 2 vulcan gunpods…
Back when we had only KWS - I had a loadout named “pantsirschreck” it’s just gunpods and you basically just multipath and spray the entire area. Was fun as hell.
I just want a bunch of guns with eurofighters mobility…
Came back to the game after a few months after previously getting bored of the KH-38 spam. Have a few okay games and think things aren’t too bad until I go against Russia multiple times with my whole team being wiped in seconds by KH-38 and LMUR missiles.
Yet somehow the Brimstone having mmW FnF and being on helicopters is too much for the game and there’s no counter to it, despite pretty much all the same issues being prevelent for the LMUR.
Can someone explain to me what happened in this video? I locked onto the target — a helicopter that was landing at the base — fired the Brimstones, and not a single one hit. As I flew past, you can see that the missiles struck somewhere else nearby instead. Then, when I was already really close, the laser marker suddenly corrected itself and aimed properly at the helicopter.
I guess it’s time to go back to the USSR and just spam Kh-38s — no problems there 😉
Gaijin be like “☝️🤓 Erm, ackshually you can use smoke to block the LMUR and KH-38!”
Never mind that most tanks don’t have the systems to tell you these missiles are on their way, or that top attack missiles tend to attack from the top, not the front which is where most tanks deploy their smoke toward.
