Brimstone Missiles

Well well well… “we removed the self guiding from the Brimstone to balance the game”. Ahhhh, a classic Gaijin move, because you had absolutely zero issue giving russia the strongest SPAA in game with IRCCM missiles that can be spammed from 30kms away, the strongest bomber in game, the strongest GPS guided bomb, the strongest hull on all their modern MBTs (I’m still waiting to see a real T-90 survive a shot to the turret like nothing happened), the strongest line ups in game (top tier is unplayable against URSS, let’s not even talk about sim mode).
I just unlocked the Brimstone, tried it, saw that it needs constant guidance from the aircraft carrier, laughed at myself for thinking Gaijin would give a decent weapon to any other nation apart from URSS, and finally closed the game instantly.

I have a problem with the Brimstones regarding the IOG ability.

Does this work for anyone?

If I mark a target with the laser and the missile flies towards it, then it should hit the position, even if I turn completely and can no longer mark it with the laser.

This means that a stationary target should be hit. But this is not the case.
Because the Brimstone does not maneuver to the last marked position. Not even close.

Is the IOG function even implemented?

Yes it is. However, brimstone 1 (the version in game) do not have 0-drift IOG. Meaning, while the missile will fly roughly in the direction of the last laser point, it won’t hit it precisely. Some missiles have 0-drift IOG (KH-38 iirc) or GPS (AASM) to achieve a precise impact without laser/ir guidance.

Also the IOG perma disables after the laser is used

You need to disable the laser from automatically activating when fired, this will guide them via IOG. If you fire them with the laser, they wont guide with IOG.

Is that realistic? That sound rather stupid tbh

I dont know, but the same thing occurs with the hellfire and I think either insuffecient sources are available to correct it or it is correct.

I did think that and to be honest it should have IOG until and after you attempt to lase.

We are hampered enough with the SAL weapon least give it IOG.

Thank you. That helps me a lot. I didn’t realize that it “works” like that in the game.

According to my information, the following applies to the Brimestone in laser guided mode.

If the Brimstone missile is used in laser-guided mode and the laser is turned off, the outcome depends on the specific configuration and the timing of the shutdown:

  1. Before Target Acquisition (Lock-On Before Launch, LOBL)
If the laser is turned off before the missile has locked onto the target, the missile will fly blindly since it has no valid target.
  2. During Flight (Lock-On After Launch, LOAL)
If the laser is turned off mid-flight, the missile will attempt to reach the last known laser designation.
If the target has moved, the missile may miss.
  3. During Terminal Approach (Final Attack Phase)
If the missile is already in its final approach, it may still track the last laser reflections.
Depending on its software logic, it could either try to hit the last known position or self-destruct.

Point 2 is definitely not implemented in the game. If I turn off the laser, the rocket no longer flies to the last marked laser point, but flies ballistically and usually falls to the ground well before the target.

Can others confirm this?

It is time guys. We fight against the Russian bias.

Wont be accepted, but definetly an honourable try

yeah that was fast xd god forbid other nations got strong air to ground weapons too

Yeah… Im fighting for either SAL Brimstone 2s and SAL+GPS Spaer-3s at the moment. Though the fake GPS Nerf has put a giant hole in that Spear-3 plan.

But yeah, MMW was needed a year+ ago for helis and 100% was needed from this major update for fixed wings

Also love how they just said that it’s not a big report and closed it. It’s reporting a missing key feature, where else should I put it? Create a forum thread? Not a single Gaijin employee ever saw a single Forum thread.

Its all been reported internally by Gunjob.

The issue is they refuse to add MMW or a placeholder for MMW like making them IR for now.

if russia is incapable of doing it, it clearly is impossible

Yep, definetly a marketing lie

But we already do have airborne radars that can detect only moving ground vehicles in the game. Just give the seeker some basic function like ‘‘if the target’s speed is 30 km/h or more, can see it’’.

No, that would make them unusable. Especially vs the new SPAAs. Youd be constantly using the SAL versions anyway.

but no no the kh38mt is reel guyss!!!
