Blame the Finnish lol. The average KD for the Pz.IV H and J are about .92 with the Finnish J model being 1.13

50mm+15mm of RHA from track armor, most of the time in the KwK 40 Pz IVs you will be at distances above 500m so pen from light tanks is pitiful.

Any of the big three is the same

Light tanks shouldn’t be facing mediums at the front, they should be using their speed to the best of their advantage to flank to the weak sides of the tank. If you want to face mediums frontally then use a medium or a heavy. Also correction, the Panzer IV H and J variants have a thickened UFP of 80mm and 15mm of tracks.

Edit: I’ve gone through protection analysis and I underestimated how much tracks do.

What is it?

Slow fat and heavy + bulldog which aims like its riding waves

Teams get pushed back and never recover.

This. Could easily be 3.3, and after some of the bug/historical fixes could be fine at 3.7 with the M4 and M4A1.

Panzer IV is also just rank II. So gets ignored by most experienced players. Rest has been already discussed. For WT maps and game rules its just a bad tank. German winrate at this bracket is abysmal, general lack of speedy tanks and vehicles suited for close quarter combat (good gun handling or autocannon vehicles with enough pen).

Idk I like the Panzer IV J, it’s like a non open top M10 with usable turret traverse and good reload. Works quite well on most maps given you can play it like a sniper or a medium range in fighter

No it doesn’t, the Panzer IV (KwK 40) is an excellent tank that does get recognized by experienced players because of it’s firepower at such a low BR compared to Shermans and T-34’s having <=100mm of penetration, while the Panzer IV has >130mm.

If anything I think Germany Rank II has the best CQC lineup because of the Panzer IV (KwK 40)'s - while Shermans and T-34’s have to aim for weakspots due to not being able to pen the UFP (i.e turret cheek), Panzer IV’s are point and click, being able to effectively penetrate Shermans, T-34’s and even KV1’s frontally. The only downside I can think of is the 50mm RHA for the Panzer IV F2 and G variants, which means a wide range of autocannons can easily penetrate it.
