After being frustrated with the completely unrealistic and implausible turning radius for Bosvark, which is a road vehicle (it can’t drive on most corners in city streets), I did some searching and found the turn radius in-game is much larger than spec given online.
I asked the manufacturer after explaining the game/situation/error and they sent me a previously Restricted SA Army Operator Manual for the SAMIL 100 6x6, which the Bosvark chassis uses.
Currently in game the Radius is ~23-25m (50m diameter when turning at CC1 and about same at 7 kmh, lowest possible speed).
It is only a chassis operator manual, it is applicable to the Bosvark which uses this chassis. It was restricted nearly 30 years ago, nothing secret, it is also used as a civilian chassis (SAMIL 100 6x6) so this information is in public circulation.
I explained the situation to the manufacturer and one of the dealers they forwarded it to sent this to me. It’s from 1996 and the truck is no longer produced (only remanufactured is available).
Nice work! It’s cool to see people reaching out on their own accords to find info like this.
That vehicle did feel very sluggish to turn with, good thing it can be fixed while still being authentic.
Thank you for the kind words. It’s a labour of love, I enjoy the fruity South African lower BR vehicles (they have the best guns for a given BR by far) and found a few issues with them in mobility.
edit: the Bosvark will probably be quite drift capable with this bug fix applied (it already can be a little) and will need a gentler hand on the wheel xD
Next one I’m checking is Ystervark (I think it could be similar with some improvements to be had) and the Lancia 3ro Is about 14-15m radius so also worth checking. That one though is very hard to find info on or specifications, as they won’t be indexed or will be in Italian and not OCR’d and very old. So for that finding enthusiasts with the resources will probably be quickest.
This crossed my mind but had nowhere in test map to do it at the time.
Just did a custom battle on cargo port, it’s harder as there are no track marks for tires, but same result, 50m.
It should really make only a tiny difference, if the front wheels can’t steer you probably don’t have much traction either lol.
