Air sim is quite friendly to bombers at WW2 brackets.
Even ignoring the advantage third person gunner view produces (which is controversial), ASB games are won by ground-strike and bombing runs.
I’ve recently had a Bf109F4 game with a bunch of cool people who chatted and did teamwork and all that. We were facing off against a swarm of Il-2s, Yak-2 KABB and Yer-2s going crazy on our A.I tanks and bases.
The match was super close despite us having much better k/d ratio and air-to-air performance (most of our tickets came from air patrol objectives and intercepting a.i bombers/attackers and a few of us strapping bombs to our fighters in a desperate attempt to off-set the ticket drain).
But alas, the Il-2 rightfully won. It was a fun match from start to finish (with my only complaint being one of the yak-2 playing in unsportsmanlike ways by ejecting to deny kills).
Give it a try. I’m confident you will enjoy it, especially if you join the sim LFG discord and form pick-up group bomber formations. WingalingDragon has a penchant for wacky bomber missions like B-25s on Rocky Canyon doing canyon runs against interceptors in formation in Voice chat. There is a tiny bit of learning curve but nothing insurmountable and M&KB is more than sufficient to have fun (these controls are optimized for fighters, but shouldn’t be too hard to adapt to bombers: WT Live // Controls by RunaDacino
