No?
In the same way “Casualties” does not only mean deaths.

Bombers are no longer damage pinatas, fighters now must learn how to work really hard to shoot them down … Oh, no! How sad!

Okay I can tell you’re an arcade player. so you might not understand how negatively this is going to effect Realistic battles. but when a bomber cannot be taken down because props have low ammo pool we cant just reload and respawn to take it out. Mark my words, IF the changes go into the live server how they are right now, people WILL hate it, it WILL ruin ARB, and gaijin will be forced to either revert or adjust the damage models, if not for a historic reason, then for a gameplay reason.
That looks like part of the left tail hit and three to four into the engine, not the wing itself.
Edit
Someone stated it took upwards of 7 fighters to shoot down a bomber in another thread. I do not know the truth to this as aircraft aren’t exactly my area of autism.
As for why they needed escorts; a bomber costs a hell of a lot more and requires far more training hours than a fighter. Not rocket science that you’d want to protect your investment while it does its thing.
40% of B-17 losses being attributed to being shot down by fighters also means losses to fighters were in the minority.
Have you read the thread i linked in my first reply?
It seems like a majority of players actually like this change.
It’s not like bombers have a meaningful role in ARB right now. A match usually ends when one side dies out. Even if the bombers become literally invincible, the best they can do is to bomb bases or AI convoys to drain tickets. In this case your argument of limited ammo pool also applies - the bombers don’t have inifinte bombs. Not to mention some props have a few thousand shells. And it’s definitely slower for bombers to rtb to re-arm.
It’s also not like bombers can chase down fighters, so they won’t be an active threat if you don’t want to fight them. A bomber is just as much of a plane as a fighter, and if they are at the same BR, I would think they should have similar capabilities.
This is not my video, but that B17 in the video took around 3 seconds of fire from 1 M61 and 2 Gau-8 gunpods before the wing fell off.
The damage model might be slighly overtuned towards the bombers side.

whos the majority here?
So once all the fighters are dead everyone just has to play a worse Microsoft Flight Simulator flying around doing nothing until the timer runs out? because on a lot of maps its impossible to fully drain tickets by ground pounding. one of the biggest complaints about ARB is how idle it becomes when little Timmy camps the airfield for 10 years, this is going to the the exact same problem.
You mean the loud minority? Most of the positive feedback is prior to the dev server going live. Everyone wants bombers to be tankier, but as of now its ridiculous. In a previous reply you asked me for sourced about RDX being used, when you, yourself said RDX wax being used
I’d hardly trust the fighter mains after their ‘i want easy kills’ in every mode tbh.
I think if bombers become very hard to shoot down they will get a significant BR bump, which could be awkward if any end up in early missile territory. We all know balancing bomber survivability and overall airframe capability within the current ARB framework will be very tricky, that doesn’t mean it shouldn’t be tried however.
That’s a map/gamemode design problem.
As I said, bombers don’t have much of a meaningful role in ARB rn.
I don’t know. Perhaps. Gaijin adjusts BR based on winrates so I’ve heard. I don’t think bombers contribute anything to decide the win/loss of a match in the current game mode, hence perhaps no change is needed unless fighters keep feeding bombers. If that does happen, then bombers would end up like the zeros and keep go up in BR …
i understand bombers were too weak before, but this is wayy too strong, you have to be out of your mind if you think this damage model is fine, currently they can eat 100-500 30mm gau8 cannon rounds fired from an a10
my conclusion is that bombers should be toned down by a bit when it goes live
Where is that?
I’d actually care if bombers had this thing called maneuverability.
Most of them are already slow and are large to freakishly huge targets.
I don’t think bombers are unplayable even if they do have to face aim9b and other early IR missiles. They can just turn off engine and they pretty much can’t be locked.
