the first block 3 was delivered in 2021, but the first air launched SM-6 was seen publicly in 2018. the block 2 can take AIM-174 for sure

Wouldn’t the 174 be a little bit overpowered, even on a slow ass Hornet? I mean, I guess they could just add it in a nerfed state, as currently the SH is just really bad, even in Ground RB it is nothing compared to Eurofighters, Rafales, Gripens etc.

But how does that make it any better than F-15C GE which also would be getting 9X? I think they are also going to add next gen ARH missile like AIM-174B which would justify it going to 14.7

We are reading too much into Gaijin’s thinking here, I don’t think the BR change guarantees in any way the addition of any new weapons. This has the out of touch developer meme written all over it, they might genuinely believe that the F/A-18E is on par with the other 14.7s as it is.

Either that or they want as many trees as possible to have a “top BR” jet.
So that way they can cope that the US tree has a 14.7 jet and they can also cope and act that the F/A-18E was a worthwhile addition that wasn’t added a year too late.
