So. This pylon can be added, cyz we already have addition of igla to the Mi-28nm internal pylon, but wing BRU-61 that is either an extremely rarely used loadout option or it is not authorized like the outrigger pylon on the AV-8B. Or i have old docs

The AIM-260 will be operational by the time the Meteor will be integrated into the F35.
The US is developing new long range air to air missiles that will likely be carried by the F-15EX. One of the programs is the Long Range Engagement Weapon.
its been a long time since the brit use the meteor on the f35, the brits did it lol and now the europ allied will follow, they can keep the aim-260 it will bring nothing new
Lockheed Martin is doing the work, not the British and they flew with the Meteor in the weapons bay. They haven’t launched any yet. It’s still a long way for the Meteor to be operational on the F35.

f15 is still weak, the only way to make it worth fighting is to give it a new weapon, even the f18 is a lot better than the f15
Either way, the AIM-260 is already in production. Production orders for the AIM-260 were placed earlier this year the F 15 also was carrying AIM-120s into desert storm before they were formally adopted. For all we know, the AIM-260 can already be in service, but not formally adopted.

mach 2.8-2.9 vs mach 1.8 definitely isnt an advantage
can the f15 do bvr like the f18 ? can it dogfight ? can it fight modern planes instead of mig23/mig21 ?
First thing, the F/A-18 can barely go mach 1.01 on the deck with 2 AMRAAM and 2 sidewinders. God forbid it ran a full loadout of aim-174 and aim-120 (Will look for the docs that back any of my statements when i get home.) Second, the Hornet (and eagle) can barely dogfight, it has horrid speed bleed while only having decent aoa. If you have anything else to say about the hornet, take it to appropriate thread and I’ll respond there.

lol f-15ex carries more AMRAAMs than the fa18c, and will soon have 12x aim 260s, paired with actual good launch parameters with the f15 will be amazing.
Sure it’s less range than the aim 174 b but it gets much more

iirc this chinese report doesnt fully include advances in rocket motors so the range could easily be more than that
I forgot he was talking about the fa18e not c so my entire post is moot anyways lol

f15c and e already do bvr as well or better than f18, even more so with aim260 now
f15s very much can dogfight pretty well
and the modern f15s will easily be on par or better than other 4.5 gens especially in bvr
